Roles & Responsibilities
Training and Employee InvolvementConduct safety induction programs for all new joinees and continuous safety training for all employees working in the plant.Organize mock drills for various emergency situations.Participate in plant safety meetings and ensure closure of safety points arising from such meetings.Communicate safety guidelines through displays, safety signs, in‑house magazines, safety literature, annual plant safety performance reports, etc.Participate in safety goal/target setting, improvement projects, safety suggestion schemes and safety promotional activities. Safety Audits and InspectionsConduct daily safety inspections and share observation reports.Oversee statutory inspections for all lifting tools & tackles and pressure vessels through third‑party agencies.Ensure compliance with ESS and GRC portals.Participate in internal/external safety audits and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).Carry out hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA).Conduct job safety analysis (JSA) for construction activities.Conduct statutory assessment of contractors from a safety standpoint.Monitor contractors’ safety performance through regular reviews, monitoring, and reward & penalty systems.Inspect and maintain all safety equipment in the plant. Safety and Fire Control System ManagementEnsure proper functioning of safety guards, safety interlocks, hand tools, and power tools.Ensure 100% compliance with work permit systems and safe isolation procedures.Monitor and control hazardous substances in the plant.Procure, maintain, and monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Monitor workplace noise levels, ventilation, and dust.Inspect electrical equipment and installations.Conduct fire risk assessments for the plant.Maintain firefighting equipment in operational condition. Safety Performance & MeasurementReport all incidents, including near-miss events, on the ESS platform.Investigate all incidents/near misses and maintain incident trend analysis data.Identify, recognize, and manage potential loss areas. Workplace SafetyEnsure workplace hygiene and maintain 5S standards across the plant.
