Job Purpose

To lead and strengthen the organization's Risk Containment Unit (RCU) function across India by ensuring effective pre-disbursement and post-disbursement risk investigations, fraud prevention, field verification controls, process audits, and portfolio monitoring across Machinery Loans, LAP, Affordable LAP, and Solar Rooftop financing businesses. The role will focus on minimizing credit losses arising from fraud, misrepresentation, identity theft, collateral risk, and policy deviations while supporting sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. RCU Operations Management

Lead and manage pan-India RCU operations across all business verticals.

Develop and implement standardized RCU policies, SOPs, and investigation frameworks.

Ensure timely completion of verification and investigation activities within defined TATs.

Drive consistency in risk assessment practices across all branches and regions.

2. Pre-Disbursement Risk Assessment

Conduct independent verification of customer profiles, business establishments, income sources, property details, machinery assets and related documents.

Identify red flags related to customer identity, ownership, repayment capacity, collateral quality, and transaction authenticity.

Perform fraud checks and recommend approval, rejection, or escalation of suspicious cases.

Review deviations and exceptions from credit policy from a risk perspective.

3. Fraud Risk Management

Design and implement fraud detection and prevention mechanisms.

Investigate suspected frauds, forged documentation, collusion cases, and identity theft incidents.

Prepare detailed investigation reports and recommend corrective actions.

Maintain a centralized fraud database and ensure dissemination of learnings across teams.

4. Vendor & Field Investigation Management

Manage field investigation agencies and verification vendors across India.

Monitor vendor performance, quality standards, TAT adherence, and reporting accuracy.

Conduct regular audits of vendors and field investigation processes.

Build alternate vendor networks for operational continuity.

5. Portfolio Monitoring & Post-Disbursement Reviews

Conduct post-disbursement audits and portfolio reviews.

Identify emerging fraud trends, concentration risks, and geographical risk indicators.

Recommend process improvements based on portfolio findings and delinquency trends.

Collaborate with collections and credit teams for high-risk account reviews.

6. Property & Collateral Verification

Oversee legal, technical, and collateral verification controls for LAP and Affordable LAP products.

Ensure validation of property ownership, valuation reasonableness, occupancy status, and encumbrance checks.

Review collateral risks associated with machinery financing and solar rooftop assets.

7. Risk Analytics & Reporting

Develop MIS dashboards and risk indicators for senior management.

Track key parameters such as fraud incidence, field investigation outcomes, policy deviations, early delinquency trends, and portfolio quality.

Present periodic reports to Credit Risk Committee and senior leadership.

8. Stakeholder Management

Partner with Credit, Sales, Operations, Legal, Collections, Compliance, and Audit teams.

Act as the central point of contact for all RCU-related matters.

Support regulatory, internal audit, and external audit requirements.
