If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

Own end-to-end service accountability for designated Cloud Applications (production and pre-production), covering availability, performance, resiliency, security, and lifecycle management

Act as the primary point of contact for the service across Technology, including stakeholder management with Product, Engineering, Cloud Platform, Cyber Security, Operations, and Vendors

Define and maintain service standards and artefacts (service definition, service boundaries, SLO/SLAs, RTO/RPO, support model, runbooks, on-call arrangements)

Drive service reliability outcomes, incident reduction, problem management, and continuous improvement plans

Lead operational governance: change/release readiness, capacity planning, maintenance windows, and operational risk management for cloud workloads

Ensure effective monitoring and observability (metrics, logs, traces) and that alerting is actionable, prioritized, and linked to runbooks

Own incident management for the service: major incident leadership/support, communications, coordination of restoration, post-incident reviews, and remediation tracking

Manage service resilience and DR: test planning/execution, failover readiness, backup/restore validation, and alignment to business continuity requirements

Ensure compliance with relevant controls and evidence requirements (e.g., access controls, patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration baselines), partnering with control owners as needed

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Proven experience as an IT Service Owner / Service Manager / Operations Lead for customer-facing or business-critical applications, preferably hosted on public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)

Strong understanding of cloud application architecture and operations: networking basics, IAM, encryption, secrets management, containers/Kubernetes (where relevant), and managed services

Hands-on experience with IT service management practices (incident, problem, change, release, capacity, availability) and using service management tooling (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent)

Solid grasp of SRE/operational excellence concepts: SLOs/SLIs, monitoring/observability, reliability engineering, and automation-first operations

Experience coordinating major incidents under pressure, producing clear stakeholder communications, and driving root cause analysis to closure

Working knowledge of resilience and DR in cloud: multi-AZ/region patterns, backup strategies, DR testing, and recovery time objectives

Excellent collaboration and influencing skills across multi-disciplinary teams, with confidence to challenge constructively and “get it done” through others

Good to have Cloud related certification.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
