The role
A DevOps engineer at an energy technology company designs embedded software delivery systems, specializing in CI/CD, Azure infrastructure, and Yocto Project builds. This person automates containerized workflows and release quality using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
Full job description
What You’ll Do
CI/CD & Automation
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for embedded software builds across multiple branches, repositories, and teams Automate build, test, and release workflows covering compilation, static analysis, and binary packaging Manage build artefact lifecycle — hosting intermediate build outcomes and archiving binaries using JFrog Artifactory
Infrastructure & Configuration Management
Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) Manage configuration across environments using Ansible for consistency and repeatability Administer and optimize Docker-based build environments; contribute to container orchestration strategies
Security & Code Quality
Integrate static analysis and security scanning tools — Coverity, Black Duck (ProtexIP) — into automated pipelines as quality gates Define and enforce pull request quality checks, branch protection rules, and release gating policies Support software composition analysis and open-source license compliance workflows
Monitoring & Observability
Implement and maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting for build infrastructure and pipeline health Define dashboards and metrics to track pipeline performance, failure rates, and build health Proactively identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement of pipeline efficiency
Embedded Domain Support
Collaborate with firmware and embedded software teams to support Yocto Project-based Linux builds and Zephyr RTOS environments Enable hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and emulator/simulator-based dynamic testing pipelines Support cross-compilation toolchain management and sysroot configurations
Source Control & Collaboration
Define and govern Git branching strategies and source control management (SCM) practices for multi-team, multi-site development Act as an SME for GitHub Enterprise usage — repository structure, access policies, workflows, and integrations Collaborate with validation, security, and product teams to align DevOps practices with delivery goals
Release Management
Own and drive the release pipeline from integration build to customer delivery — acting as a quality gatekeeper Define quality and feature matrices; report delivery progress to program and engineering leadership
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering Experience: 3–6 years of overall industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a DevOps role Demonstrated experience in an embedded software development environment is strongly preferred
