Simulation Expert (MRI systems)

Job Description

Simulation Expert (MRI systems)

Your Role

Developing and applying computational models, mainly in electromagnetics (e.g. RF, EMC) and selectively across thermal, structural, and CFD domains, to guide MRI hardware R&D decisions.

Translating system-and subsystem-level requirements into appropriate mathematical and computational models with the right level of fidelityEvaluating performance, safety, and reliability aspects through simulation and clearly communicating results and limitationsPerforming concept, feasibility, and trade‑off studies to guide design choices and technology developmentEnsuring model credibility, documentation, and traceability in line with internal standards and regulatory expectationsSupporting system‑level insight by integrating models across multiple physics and engineering domainsPlanning and prioritizing modelling activities, estimating effort, and reporting progress to stakeholdersCollaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure modelling results are actionable and aligned with project needsStaying up to date with advancements in modelling methods, simulation tools, and medical imaging technologyMentoring junior engineers and contributing to the capability growth of the HW Modelling team

You Are a Great Fit If

A Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related disciplineShould have 5+ years of industry experience in relevant areas.Strong hands-on experience with commercial simulation tools (e.g. Ansys, CST, Sim4Life, COMSOL, MATLAB Simscape/Simulink)Programming experience in MATLAB and/or Python for model development, automation, and analysis (C/C++ is a plus)Experience in medical technology, preferably MR R&D or a closely related domainA solid foundation in mechatronics, applied mathematics and physics, with the ability to understand, explain, and validate the underlying assumptions and limitations of simulation modelsDemonstrated research mindset, such as publications, workflow improvements, or new modelling techniques

You Will Stand Out If You Also Have

Proven ability to translate complex system-level challenges into computational and mathematical modelsFamiliarity with AI- or data-enabled modelling approaches, including surrogate or reduced-order modelsExperience working in multidisciplinary, global R&D environments, engaging effectively with engineers, scientists, and stakeholdersA proactive, innovative mindset with the ability to work independently while contributing strongly to team objectivesHands-on experience with RF transmit/receive coils and birdcage resonators or other MRI components

How We Work Together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. This role is an office-based role.
