About The Role
Reporting to the Pricing Data Science & Automation Manager as part of Castrol’s Global Pricing Team, the Pricing Operations Research & Data Analyst plays a critical role in advancing Castrol’s pricing capability through advanced analytics, modelling & automation.
This role sits at the intersection of data science and commercial decision-making, applying operations research and analytical techniques to solve complex pricing challenges. The successful candidate will develop scalable models and insights that directly improve price realization, optimize gross-to-net performance, and drive profitable growth across products, customers & channels.
You will be responsible for turning data into actionable pricing recommendations, supporting smarter, faster & more consistent decision-making across the business.
What You Will Deliver
Experience in data science, operations research, pricing analytics, or commercial analyticsStrong problem-solving capability with a quantitative approachDemonstrated ability to translate analytical outputs into business impactExposure to pricing, revenue management, or commercial strategy is highly advantageousStatistical modelling / econometricsOptimization techniques (e.g., linear programming, scenario optimization)Demand modelling and price elasticityData manipulation and analysis (Python, R, SQL for example)Build and maintain models to address core pricing challenges:Price elasticity and demand forecastingWillingness to pay and price sensitivityScenario modelling and price optimizationApply operations research techniques to solve pricing and portfolio optimization problemsContinuously refine models to improve accuracy, scalability, and commercial relevanceDrive gross-to-net analytics & price realizationDeliver insights to improve product mix, price positioning, and portfolio structureAnalyze performance across:Channels (DIY, DIFM, B2B)Customer segments and key accountsPack sizes, specifications, and price tiersSupport development of price ladders and segmentation strategiesBuild reusable analytical tools, models, and dashboardsSupport automation of pricing workflows and reporting processesImprove speed and consistency of pricing decision-making through scalable solutionsContribute to the evolution of pricing tools (e.g., Nova, dashboards, analytics platforms)Turn complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable recommendationsSupport cases with quantified revenue and margin impactWork closely with Pricing, Sales, Finance, and Marketing teams to embed insights into decisionsContribute to insight-led storytelling for senior partners
What You Will Need To Be Successful
Experience in data science, analytics, or operations researchUniversity degree or equivalent experience or higherStrong background in statistical or econometric modellingExperience working with large datasets and extracting insightsExperience in pricing, revenue management, or commercial analyticsExposure to trade spend / gross-to-net analyticsExperience in FMCG, automotive, energy, or B2B industriesStrong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to solve complex analytical problemsProficiency in one or more analytical programming languages (e.g., Python, R) & data querying toolsStrong SQL and data manipulation capabilityExperience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI or similar)Familiarity with optimization techniques and modelling approachesExposure to automation tools, workflows, or APIs is advantageous
