Job Purpose

Economic research is a part of the Risk framework of the Company and supports the Risk framework by providing timely critical inputs. The role involves bringing out Macro-Economic Analysis, data analysis and interpretation, Forecasting Macro variables and internal business parameters, drawing inside out analysis using internal as well as external data.

This role gives an opportunity of going beyond the above and gives deeper insights in the area of Economic Research. The role allows candidate work on areas such as Consumer behavior, Socio-political events, Macro-variable forecasting and nowcasting. Macro Economic stress, Macro scenario model building, drawing business and growth inference from Economic analysis.

Duties And Responsibilities

Provide analytical solutions through statistical modeling, credit policy and strategy, reporting and data analysis for the BFL businesses Understanding macro-economic variables and its impact on economic growth, business, and industry performance Generate insights on external drivers shaping consumer behaviour, industrial activity, and business dynamics, while evaluating the implications of socio-political, geopolitical, and geoeconomic developments on business resilience, growth, and strategic outcomes. Understand aggregate change in consumer behavior and external drivers such as macroeconomic, political risks, etc. Building Empirical framework to understand shift in aggregate behavior and its impact on BFL business Isolating macroeconomic vs. idiosyncratic influence on results Build Economic forecasting models for Macro variables Work closely with business team to understand their need and provide Analytical solution. Assess if any early warning signals using data analysis and segmentations and take pro-active policy actions as and when required Design research-based frameworks and empirical models. The candidate should - Have strong analytical orientation (along with data manipulation experience) Act as an expert in Economic studies with specialization in Macro. Have ability to isolate customers revealed and stated preference through its transactions and interactions and extend findings across different cross section of customers for specific business use case. Be able to set up primary/secondary research that will help in testing various hypothesis and frameworks Be able to bring in non-traditional data, that will help sharpen the design and approach

Key Decisions / Dimensions

Forecasting Model/Economic Analysis design and model build decision

Algorithms that should be used in model building Business interpretation of statistical models and also interpretation of macro-economic variables and its impact.

Required Qualifications And Experience

Qualifications

Post-graduate degree in Economics, Financial Economics or Equivalent degree on Quantitative subjects (knowledge of econometrics, statistics and mathematics).

Work Experience 3-5 years relevant analytical experience in Economic Research, Forecasting, Building growth model etc. Preferred Coding languages: Python, SQL, R. Classical statistical techniques: Regression, Logistic regression, Clustering, Dimensionality reduction techniques, Hypothesis testing. Experience in handling huge database both structure and unstructured data and the ability to do root cause analysis. Individual contributor with the capability to deliver projects within timeline Effective verbal and written communication skills
