Sr. Manager, Software Engineering

General Summary:The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering is responsible for leading a global team of entry level to experienced professionals focused on developing high-quality, innovative, fully performing software in compliance with coding standards. This role supports the management and coordination of resources and processes to deliver successful software releases, while defining the strategy and driving initiatives that deliver on organization’s vision and goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational resultsManages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignmentsInfluences others outside of their own job regarding policies, practices, and proceduresContributes to policy and strategy implementation for short-term resultsLeads and prioritizes the daily activities of the teamManages, mentors, and coaches to develop a collaborative and dynamic teamCoordinates cross-functional communication to align on initiatives and strategies to drive efficiencyWrites product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature setsMaintains a deep understanding of programming and coding fundamentals, architecture, and design in multiple languagesBuilds positive and collaborative relationships within the team and organizationOversees multiple large, complex, and dissimilar deliverables and trains others on deliverables as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

Exceptional leadership and customer service skillsStrong hands-on experience in Microservices architecture.Expertise in cloud technologies, with AWS preferredWorking knowledge of databases (any type).Willingness to work in a team environmentStrong organizational skills to give the team directionProfessional presence suitable for interaction in meetings, in-person, or via emailExcellent presentation and communication skillsStrong creativity and latitude skillsAdvanced knowledge of programming languages and software basicsStrong knowledge of relevant software development tools including version control, build processes, debuggers, and test frameworksOrganized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to develop professionallyStrong ability to lead and manage multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously with sufficient efficiency and qualityStrong ability to understand complex algorithmsAdvanced understanding of how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience• 10-15 years of relevant experience• 3+ years of leadership experience
