Role Purpose Statement The main purpose of this role will be to efficiently receive, process and dispatch incoming wastes to ensure it is assessed and handled in an approved manner, ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental compliance is met whilst demonstrating continuous improvement in productivity, storage bay availability and the quality of materials produced
Main Accountabilities
Implementation of the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS), including writing and review of associated policies and procedures. Management of the audit programme of the EMS to ISO14001 standards. Liaison with the ISO14001 external auditor for the EMS. Liaison with Regional and head office of Pollution Control Board . Regular sampling and testing of all environmental monitoring points such as soil, borehole, drains, effluent discharge etc to ensure compliance with permit requirements. Inspecting incoming waste loads and ensuring security of waste entering the facility and disposal in line with environmental requirements. Analyzing samples, with subsequent reporting of the results to either internal or external customers. Collating fuel and ash sample data from external test houses, comparing against standards or other limits and advising as necessary. Keeping abreast of environmental legislation and Company policy to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented. Performing tests on a variety of sample types (e.g. soil, water and other environmental samples) as required by the incoming workload and as directed by the Operations Manager. Sampling and providing disposal advice of any hazardous waste during processing within the plant. Assessing waste streams in line with relevant legislation & processes. Ensuring all reagents, chemicals, consumables and equipment are suitable for use and is maintained at a stock level to ensure tests can be performed. Compilation of relevant technical documentation, permits and management reports. Ensuring inputs and outputs meet defined standards (e.g. PPC, discharge consent, pre acceptance, onward transfer caveats) whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations. Managing specialist contractors and advising Operations Staff to ensure regular monitoring of the boiler water and steam chemistry to ensure optimum corrosion performance. Monitor and advise on the performance of the water treatment plant. Efficiency monitoring and Environment compliance of ETP, RO plant Disposal of Hazardous Waste to APPCB approved recyclers Legal submission through pollution control site- Monthly Patrak , Hazardous waste return ,officer inspection reply and Form -IV and V , Hazardous waste manifest .CTE and CC&A application, Bio-Medical waste Authorization and disposal . ETP , WWRP , RO and ZLD, STP plant Operation. Coordination with consultant for monthly Environment Monitoring and assure done as per Guideline. Ensure of CTE and CC&A Compliances of Pollution Control Board norms . Coordination with Environment Audit team and review and submission of Environment Audit report to GPCB within timeline . Municipal(paper, card board etc.) and Hazardous waste (ETP sludge, used oil etc.) management (collection, storage and transportation ) as per Government guideline . Adopt Innovative technologies in the field of Environment (like water conservation ,energy conservation etc.) Coordination with Global-EHS Team for legal compliance verification and sustainability targets review. Conducting Job specific training & communication. SAP- Create PR (Material purchase ),Service entry sheet (payment process ) etc. Monsoon planning as per Pollution Control Board and full fill legal requirement . Conduct Environmental tool box talk and related training. Celebration of World environment day through awareness of company staff and contractual staff EMS-ISO-14001 – Documentation and certification. Creating, Maintaining Green Belt across the site

Education & Experience Degree educated in a relevant science subject or equivalent (preferably Environmental or Chemistry based). 12+ Experience as a Site Environmental Officer, gained in an industry setting. Previous experience in the waste, environmental or power generation industry is desirable
