About the Role
The Senior Internal Audit Manager, based out of Mumbai, will be responsible for driving the Quality Assurance and Audit Governance function for the Internal Audit Department. The role will oversee quality reviews of Internal Audit and Concurrent Audit reports, strengthen audit methodologies and governance frameworks, develop audit policies and SOPs, support Board, Audit Committee and regulatory reporting, and monitor departmental performance to ensure compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement across the audit function.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Administer the bank’s annual audit plan and ensure timely execution.Lead and oversee Quality Assurance (QA) reviews of Internal Audit and Concurrent Audit reports to ensure adherence to Internal Audit methodology, regulatory requirements, and reporting standards.Drive the preparation and presentation of Board and Committee decks including Internal Audit & Compliance Committee (IACC), Audit Committee of the Board (ACB), Managing Director (MD), RBI submissions, and other governance forums.Review, approve, and provide oversight on engagement documentation including Master Service Agreements (MSA), Statements of Work (SOW), Engagement Letters (EL), and other audit-related documents.Drive accountability across stakeholders for timely closure of audit observations and ensure effective remediation through structured follow-up and escalation.Lead the development of management reports, dashboards, audit analytics, and governance metrics to support data-driven decision-making.Drive automation of audit governance, reporting, monitoring, and other audit-related activities wherever feasible to enhance efficiency, consistency, and coverage.Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics, automation tools, and emerging technologies to strengthen audit effectiveness and operational excellence.Establish and maintain robust audit governance repositories, trackers, and departmental databases, ensuring data integrity and regulatory readiness.Lead special projects, regulatory initiatives, external quality assessments, and strategic transformation programs undertaken by the Internal Audit function.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Maintain a centralized repository of RBI circulars, regulatory guidelines, and supervisory communications relevant to the Internal Audit function.Periodically review RBI circulars and regulatory updates to assess their applicability to Internal Audit and coordinate timely implementation of applicable requirements.Collaborate with audit teams, business units, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely closure of audit observations and strengthen issue remediation processes.Prepare and maintain dashboards, MIS reports, and visual analytics for senior management, Audit Committees, and other governance forums to support effective decision-making.Develop and monitor key audit governance metrics, trends, and performance indicators to enhance oversight and reporting capabilities.Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analytics, automation, and process enhancement across the Internal Audit function.Maintain audit governance repositories, trackers, and documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory readiness.Prepare minutes of meetings and track action items arising from IACC, ACB, and other audit governance forums.
What We Are Looking For
Education:
Postgraduate qualification in Finance (MBA preferred).Professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in internal audit, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong understanding of Internal Audit methodologies, audit governance frameworks, and quality assurance practices.Sound knowledge of RBI regulations, banking guidelines, and regulatory expectations applicable to Internal Audit.Ability to review and assess Internal Audit reports, Concurrent Audit reports, Engagement Letters (ELs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and other audit-related documentation.Excellent report-writing and documentation skills, with experience in drafting audit notes, policies, procedures, manuals, and governance documents.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, gaps, and areas for process improvement.Proficiency in preparing management dashboards, MIS reports, data visualizations, and governance presentations using tools such as Excel and Power BI.Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, compliance, risk, and audit teams.
