About Upstox

At Upstox, we’re building the future of investing simple, powerful, and for everyone. We’re one of India’s fastest-growing fintech platforms, backed by the best in the business, including Mr. Ratan Tata and Tiger Global, and on a mission to make wealth creation accessible to every Indian. From first-time investors to seasoned traders, millions trust us to power their financial journeys. We’re not just moving fast, we're moving with purpose. If you thrive in a high-energy, high-impact environment, you’re in the right place.

The Role: Product Intern

You’ll join the Product team and work closely with Product Managers on building and improving products across the investing journey, with a focus on the Mutual Funds and Advisory space.

This is a hands-on product + data role where you’ll work across product requirements, analytics, customer behaviour, competitive intelligence, and execution. You’ll use SQL and product analytics tools to understand how users interact with our products, identify opportunities, and turn data into actionable insights.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, and other stakeholders to turn ideas and insights into products that customers can use. You won’t just look at the numbers you’ll help understand what they mean for the product and what we should do next.

What You’ll Own

Write and refine PRDs and help drive features from idea to launch — defining requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and keeping documentation updated as features evolve. Work with the product backlog — help groom, prioritise, and organise requirements so the team stays focused on what matters. Own product analytics — build and analyse dashboards, funnels, and key product metrics to understand user behaviour and feature performance. Use SQL to answer product questions — write basic queries using filters, joins, and aggregations to retrieve and analyse data without always depending on the data team. Analyse user behaviour through tools such as Mixpanel or Amplitude — build funnels, retention reports, and cohorts and understand what the numbers mean for the product. Turn data into insights — identify trends, drop-offs, and opportunities and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations. Run competitive intelligence across investing, wealth-tech, and broader fintech platforms. Track product launches, UX changes, features, and pricing. Conduct structured product teardowns of competitor products and customer journeys to understand gaps and identify opportunities relevant to our roadmap. Research the investing ecosystem and understand customer needs, market trends, product offerings, and user behaviour. Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, and other stakeholders to translate product requirements and insights into execution. Roll up your sleeves on the groundwork: research, SQL analysis, documentation, dashboarding, testing, competitive analysis, and the detailed work that turns product questions into real improvements.

What We’re Looking For

Strong analytical thinking. You enjoy working with numbers, breaking down problems, and finding meaningful patterns in data. Comfortable with SQL. You can write basic queries using SELECT, filters, joins, and aggregations to retrieve and analyse data. Deep SQL expertise is not required. Sharp product sense and genuine curiosity about how users interact with financial products. Strong ownership. You take a problem and run with it end to end, without needing constant hand-holding. A figure-it-out instinct. When you don’t know something, you find the answer yourself instead of waiting to be told. Genuine interest in fintech, investing, or financial products is a strong plus. Strong written communication. You can take a messy problem or a set of data and turn it into a clear, structured insight. High comfort with ambiguity and a strong bias for action.

Why This Role Rocks

You’ll be part of a fast-moving Product team, working on real product problems across the investing journey, with exposure to the Mutual Funds and Advisory space.

You’ll get hands-on exposure to product management, SQL, product analytics, customer behaviour, competitive intelligence, and data-driven decision-making while working on real problems and seeing how your insights translate into product improvements.

You’ll learn how to connect data → insights → product decisions and get direct exposure to the full product lifecycle in a fast-moving fintech environment.
