Analyst - Deals Desk Hybrid

Main purposeTo provide accurate and timely support across both speculative and physical trading desks, by running well defined processes to enable price and position reconciliation for the global DD team; enabling them to run various pnl , exposure and control reports. Specific tasks would include trade reconciliation with exchange, brokers and clearers, using price publications from various sources to build forward curves and help with various bookkeeping tasks.Progressively develop the capability to independently manage an assigned book encompassing all aspects of trading business, risk and MTM responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesIncreasing the accuracy of estimated costs ensuring they align with actual cost incurred.Maintain key data that is not automatically managed by IT system rules.Maintain the integrity of data between 2 key systemsFacilitate timely daily trade entry to allow Global position to be published earlier.Utilising Excel to produce cross checks to ensure data entry 100% accurateHedging for speculative tradesRequired qualificationsGraduate in Commerce/Economics with sound understanding of accounting practices and principlesSkillsGood understanding of Excel is essential.Data management experienceUsing multiple IT interfaces at onceAttributes for successMeticulous attention to detailFlexible with work shiftsTeam player with good communication skills – verbal and writtenFast learner and comfortable operating in a fast paced environmentFlexible attitude and self-motivatedDepartment overviewThe Energy Deals Desk is a critical function within Trafigura's Energy business, sitting at the intersection of commercial trading, operations, finance, and risk management. The department is responsible for the ownership, management, and accurate reporting of deal-level Profit & Loss (PnL) across the energy trading book.The Deals Desk acts as the central control function that ensures all physical trades, derivative hedges, and associated costs are correctly structured, attributed, and reported - from deal inception through to final settlement.The Deals Desk Hybrid team provides centralized support to both speculative and physical desks by performing key operational and control activities as a subset of wider DD function.
