Job Summary:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for engineering and design activities associated with customer-specific switchboard and power distribution projects. The role includes developing electrical schematics, single line diagrams, interconnection drawings, Bills of Material, and other engineering deliverables required for manufacturing and project execution. The engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, and global engineering teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Create and modify Single Line Diagrams (SLD) for multi-section switchboard and power distribution systems.
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings based on customer requirements and project specifications.
Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM), engineering documentation, and release packages.
Support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects by generating customer-specific electrical designs.
Design and document power and control circuits for switchboards, transfer switch systems, and control panels.
Create new schematic drawings and update existing drawings to support product enhancements and custom projects.
Process Engineering Change Notices (ECN), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and drawing revisions.
Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure engineering deliverables meet project schedules and customer requirements.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and support production activities.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
Support value engineering, quality improvement, and continuous engineering initiatives.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain engineering records, drawing databases, and product documentation.
(External) English Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering.
6 to 9 years of experience in electrical design, control panel design, switchboard design, or engineer-to-order (ETO) engineering.
Experience in electrical schematics, single line diagrams, interconnection drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and engineering documentation.
Experience working on low-voltage power distribution equipment, switchboards, control panels, transfer switch systems, or generator control systems is preferred.
Knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC, and other applicable electrical standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or AutoCAD. Exposure to EPLAN, Promis-e, or similar electrical design tools is an advantage.
Working knowledge of SAP/JDE/ERP systems preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment is critical.
