Job Purpose

To support SH Safety in maintaining safe working environment within the Unit by conducting, arranging and carrying out implementing and ensuring strict adherence of UTCL safety standards and practices throughout the plant and inculcating strong safety behavior down the line across the plant to maintain zero incidents.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: - Maihar Cement Works is a modern cement plant with a high level of automation, computer-aided data acquisition & sophisticated control system, which ensures quality at every stage of production. The Unit is strategically located at Sarlanagar at a distance of about 8 Kms from the town of Maihar on Maihar-Dhanwahi Road in Satna District of Madhya Pradesh. About 45 Kms South-East of Satna, a hub of Cement Industries in India. Maihar is situated at the Main Railway line of Howrah-Mumbai. It is one of the famous dots in the mythological map of India and also regarded as the abode of Goddess Sharda.

The Unit has a clinker production capacity of 3.0 MTPA, Cement Production capacity of 4.2 MTPA & manufactures OPC 43, OPC 53 & PPC grade of cement with Environment clearance for cement production capacity enhancement to 6.0 MTPA. Unit also has a solar power plant of installed capacity 12.5 MW DC / 8.75 MW AC and is equipped with the latest technology & equipment’s. The Normal Power requirement of the Unit is about 47.5 MW which is being met through our two nos. TPP of a total capacity of 2 x 15.7 MW. We have also a contract demand of 22 MVA with MPPKVVCL.

The position holder has to facilitate, catalyze, support, coordinate, organize, conduct, review, and sustain safety management system, procedures, rule programs / activities, compliances and motivate, analyses and follow up with line managers in order to achieve safe work environment and world class safety culture for prevention of injuries to employees / workers and losses due to equipment and property damage and enhance the productivity of the Unit. The position holder also requires seamless coordination with other departments for day to day operations.

Major Challenges

Maihar is an over 40 years old plant with Line 1 & 2 commissioned in 1979 this possess a challenge of upgradation of existing major equipment and structures and to maintain vigilance on from structural stability front in Plant, Colony and Mines to avoid any untoward incident. With the plant vintage and 100% of employees in Workmen category from Ex CTIL era risk perception of most of employees is very low and majority of people are in risk taker category. To educate, bring awareness and to change mindset & cultural change in attitude of the staff, workmen and contractual workforce to take active participation and effective implementation of safe work practices and safety standards on shop floor, in order to achieve Zero Accident Goal of the organization to reach world class standards. Putting safety system & processes at a place and creating an enabling safe work environment where employee & contractual workforce feel satisfied & motivated. Implementation and subsequent maintenance of ISO-45001 & 18001 system There are lot of upgradation / modification projects undergoing in the unit with proposed new line construction yet to commence due to which there is a lot of floating manpower from contractors engaged for these jobs. This manpower is less trained and required constant vigilant to ensure safe work practices are applied at Project sites. Engaged Truck Drivers for cement and Fly Ash transport are not in line with our safety requirements and need to be strictly monitored and administered through various safety checks.

KRA2 Safety Awareness Program 1. Conducted awareness / safety celebration programs among employees, family members, contract workmen & truck drivers as directed by SH and DH Safety.

Organize Campaign on Theme for the Month in coordination with HO Safety team. Organize Onsite Training through Mobile Van on Daily Basis Develop and implement best practices for motivating employees towards safety and improving safety at work place. Provide coaching and guidance to develop desired safety skills of UTCL Employees, Safety Stewards & Contractors Personal Through the Audio, Video or organizing training internally or through third party for the same without any Cost.

KRA3 Focus on SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) along with Sustainability initiatives - Ensuring 100% compliance of all safety standards and all applicable recommendations related to their concerned area.

Educating Staff, WB and CL Manpower to perform their jobs safely while improving their awareness on the Job they are performing, associated hazards and measures to perform the jobs safely while escalating unsafe acts and behaviors to their seniors. Timely conducting scheduled SO round and Walk Through Rounds, ensuring reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses on occurrences in the area of concern in system. Reporting all major and minor Incidents , investigation of incidents & closing all recommendations as per timeline mentioned in Incident Investigation Standard & Procedure To conduct daily Tool Box Talk as schedule and before start the job any critical job along with SWP Adhering of all safety precautions on the site and off the site Achieving 100% compliance with Process Safety Management standard.

KRA4 Focus on SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) along with Sustainability initiatives - Active participation in safety training, safety sub committees, standard champions meeting and any safety event

Ensure good housekeeping, limited use of power, no leakage of water, oil, air etc. and reporting concerned if any abnormalities for corrective action Replicating good practice for saving environment for long run sustainability and creating awareness among manpower to save guard natural resources. Preparing personal Safety & wellness plan in coordination with Managers and ensuring its 100% compliances

KRA5 System Management: -

(Implementing & monitoring effective execution of IMS and other systems in the Section for overall improvements towards productivity and creating safe work culture) 1. To plan & execute timely ABOEF process activities in respective Section like 5S, BCE, hygiene, Model area, illumination, good maintenance practices, visual & Lubrication management, QCDIPSHE performance, Kaizen, OPL, improvement projects etc. for internal customer satisfaction.

Review procedure requirements & recommend amendments for continuous improvement. Actively taking lead in meetings for implementation good practices in improving associated KFA and GRT performance and carry out internal audits to ensure effective implementation of systems To inculcate team for reducing repetitive nature problem, training other on tacit knowledge, adapting new technology, bring kaizen & improvement projects, adherence & develop preservation SOP's. Ensure proper implementation of IMS standards by timely Updation of documents & control, reviewing standards requirements, taking corrective & preventive action against findings internal and external audit/assessments finding for timely closure for 100% compliance.Develop Area owner ship culture.CLIT for every equipment.Dispaly critical work SOP at site.
