Full job description

We are looking for a Backend Lead who will own the design, development, and scalability of backend systems powering myGate's high-traffic platform. The ideal candidate will bring strong system design expertise, hands-on coding ability, and leadership skills to mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

Lead backend development using Java and Spring Boot.

Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance distributed systems.

Design RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

Optimise database queries and ensure performance tuning.

Ensure code quality through reviews, best practices, and testing.

Collaborate with Product, Mobile, and Frontend teams for feature delivery.

Drive CI/CD, deployment processes, and cloud best practices.

Mentor junior developers and contribute to hiring decisions.

Take ownership of production stability, monitoring, and issue resolution.

Requirements:

5-7 years of backend development experience in Java.

Strong experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.

Hands-on experience in designing microservice architecture.

Experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL.

Knowledge of Redis / caching mechanisms.

Familiarity with Kafka / event-driven systems.

Strong understanding of system design, scalability and performance tuning.
