Job Description Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert on employment tax compliance for the US and Canada. In this role, you'll resolve tax notices, manage registrations and exceptions, process tax adjustments (including W2c and T4 amendments), and handle high-volume employee inquiries — all while ensuring compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations.

Required Qualifications
3-5 years of hands-on experience in employment/payroll tax for both the USA and Canada.Well-versed in Workday and Smart Compliance, including managing tax registrations and resolving exceptions.Hands-on experience with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax processes, including filings, reconciliations, and reporting.Experience processing payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments.Proven ability to manage high-volume employee ticket/inquiry resolution with strong customer service orientation.Fluent English — strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to organize and interpret payroll/tax data.
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. FPC or PCP certification desirable
Key Responsibilities
Research, investigate, and resolve US and Canada federal, state/provincial, and local payroll tax noticesTrack issues through to resolution and maintain documentation to support auditsProcess payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments accurately and on timeEnsure accurate tax treatment for employees across multiple states/provincesManage new tax jurisdiction and entity registrations in Smart ComplianceResolve system exceptions and validate tax setups to ensure accurate processingSupport quarter-end and year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2/T4 preparation, reconciliations, filings, and validationManage and resolve high-volume employee tax/payroll inquiries, delivering excellent customer serviceSupport employment tax audits, including documentation and timely responsesIdentify and recommend process improvements to reduce risk and increase efficiencyMaintain flexibility to support peak periods (quarter-end, year-end) and special projects
Desired Characteristics
Familiarity with Executive Compensation Payroll and Tax Reporting.Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting regulatory requirements.Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Team player who contributes to a positive, collaborative work environment.
