Job Summary
The Senior Advanced Hardware Engineer is responsible for leading and executing Value Engineering (VE) and Component Engineering (CE) initiatives across Honeywell Process Automation project portfolios and system offerings.
The role focuses on identifying cost optimization opportunities, hardware architecture improvements, supplier transitions, lifecycle management, standardization, and component engineering initiatives while maintaining safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and customer commitments.
The engineer serves as a technical authority within VECE COE, collaborating with Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Manufacturing, Suppliers, Product Development, and Project Engineering teams to drive sustainable productivity improvements and margin expansion.
This role requires strong expertise in industrial automation systems, hardware design, control systems, networking, cabinet design, electronics, and cost engineering.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Value Engineering & Component Engineering
Drive end-to-end VE/CE projects from ideation through implementation.Identify cost reduction opportunities in:Control systems, Cabinets and enclosures, I/O systems, Third-party hardware, Mechanical assemblies and electronic assembliesDevelop engineering proposals focused on:Design simplification, Component substitutionSupplier changes, StandardizationPlatform reuse, Part count reductionPerform cost-benefit analysis and ROI calculations for VE opportunities.
Hardware Engineering
Review system architectures, electrical schematics, BOMs, layouts, and design packages.Evaluate alternate hardware technologies and sourcing options.Conduct technical feasibility studies and impact assessments.Support design validation and qualification activities.Identify opportunities for:Architecture optimizationModularizationReuse strategiesSimplified deployment modelsEnsure compliance with applicable standards and certifications.
Component Engineering & Lifecycle Management
Analyze electronic and electromechanical components for:Obsolescence risk, Supply chain constraints, Alternate sourcing opportunities and support: Dual-source qualification, Component standardization, Approved vendor strategies, Lifecycle extension initiativesCollaborate with sourcing teams on supplier transitions.Collaborating with cross functional teamsSupport VECE ideation workshops, factory productivity programs, and governance reviews.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in: Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation Engineering or Equivalent8 to 12+ years of overall experience in:Hardware engineering, Industrial automation, Control systemsExperience in Value engineering & Component engineering is an added advantage.Experience in Process Automation products and processes is an added advantage
