Position Summary:The Senior Software Engineer supports and enhances Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) used across Visy's paper mills, box plants, and reel stores.The role is responsible for application support, software development, project delivery, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and supply chain systems, including ABB CPM (Mill wide) and related technologies. The position works closely with operations, quality, and IT teams to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs.This position operates with a high degree of independence and technical expertise, while contributing to project outcomes and supporting critical manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:Safety and Compliance:Follow all safety policies and procedures.Support the reliable operation of systems that contribute to safe manufacturing operations.Identify, manage, and escalate operational, security, or compliance risks when required.

Application Support and Development:Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for MES and related manufacturing applications.Investigate and resolve incidents, defects, and system issues.Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.Develop, test, and deploy application enhancements and software changes.Maintain application configurations, master data, and technical documentation.Participate in an on-call roster supporting critical manufacturing systems.

Project Delivery:Support the delivery of MES and manufacturing technology projects.Work with business stakeholders to gather and define requirements.Contribute to solution design, development, testing, deployment, and transition to support.Support project go-live activities and hyper care.Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and quality standards.

Business Partnership:Collaborate with operations, production, quality, supply chain, and IT teams.Ensure solutions meet business requirements and align with technology standards.Provide technical advice and recommendations to stakeholders.Build strong working relationships across global teams.

Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and user experience.Contribute to the standardization and optimization of manufacturing applications.Stay current with MES, industrial automation, and manufacturing technology trends.Support the IDT technology roadmap and strategic initiatives.

Security and Risk Management:Apply security controls and best practices throughout the application lifecycle.Ensure systems are maintained in line with company standards and governance requirements.Support business continuity and operational resilience for critical manufacturing applications.

Experience and Qualifications:Mandatory:8+ years' experience in software engineering, application support, or MES environments.5+ years' experience in Oracle SQL development.Experience supporting and delivering Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or other business-critical enterprise applications.Strong understanding of manufacturing, production, and supply chain processes.Experience across the software development life cycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues and minimize business impact.Experience working collaboratively with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a global environment.

Desirable:Experience with ABB CPM (Mill wide) or similar MES platforms.Exposure to ERP systems and industrial automation technologies.Experience in paper, packaging, manufacturing, or process industries.
