Job Description
The Specialty Engineering job family encompasses a range of roles focused on the development and implementation of specialized engineering solutions. These roles contribute to and execute strategies within the team or organization, often at a site, country, or cluster level.
Welding, Pressure Vessels & Fabrication Capability
ROLE PURPOSE
Lead global specialty engineering capability for materials of construction, welding, pressure vessels, tanks, piping and fabricated capital assets. The role protects capital investments and manufacturing reliability by providing early technical input, solving complex field issues, strengthening supplier capability, and accelerating adoption of lower-cost, higher-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Own P&G technical capability and guidance for welding, pressure vessels, tanks, sanitary piping, materials selection and corrosion prevention.Provide early design input and execution support to major capital projects; lead technical problem solving, identify systemic improvements and help prevent recurrence of quality or reliability issues.Partner with Purchasing to evaluate new suppliers, assess technical capability, monitor fabrication quality and strengthen the existing capital supply base.Develop and scale innovations that reduce capital cost, lead time and maintenance burden, including corrosion-resistant linings, polymer applications, custom bending, gasketless connections and remote inspection methods.Build internal and external capability through Welding and Pressure Vessel Schools, symposia, technical communities, coaching, supplier development and practical field learning.Represent P&G in relevant external standards organizations and translate emerging standards and industry practices into practical company guidance.Lead and develop direct reports, laboratory resources and technical partners through clear priorities, regular coaching, stretch opportunities and disciplined work processes.
CRITICAL OUTCOMES / MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Capital projects receive timely, high-quality specialty engineering input from planning through execution.Materials-of-construction decisions and corrosion testing reduce premature equipment failure and protect manufacturing assets.Supplier technical evaluations and quality interventions improve fabricated-equipment compliance, cleanability, reliability and operating performance.Cost-effective technologies move from demonstration to repeatable adoption across projects and sites.Engineering, HSE, technician and supplier capability grows through formal training, coaching and technical-community engagement. The Materials Lab maintains business continuity while improving productivity, turnaround and organizational capability.External standards engagement creates relevant benefits for P&G designs, suppliers and operating sites.
KEY INTERFACES
Capital project managers, engineering discipline leaders, construction teams and site technical organizations.Operating Units, manufacturing sites, Quality, HSE, R&D and equipment owners.Purchasing, supplier quality resources, fabricators, equipment vendors and inspection partners.Materials Lab personnel, direct reports, contractors and members of the technical community.External standards bodies and professional organizations, including ASME Bioprocessing Equipment activities.
Job Qualifications
