Sr. Manager, Data & Integrations

Summary/Objective

The Sr. Manager, Data & Integrations is the people leader and delivery owner for isolved's India-based data and integrations personnel. This role is fluent across both sides of the house: on the data side, this person needs to operate at the same architectural depth expected of isolved's Principal Data Architect, including medallion architecture, data mesh, dimensional modeling, data lineage, integrity, and governance, alongside hands-on fluency in Databricks, Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, and Hightouch; and on the integrations side (system-to-system data integrations, ideally built on Workato, with deep API understanding, source and target schema design, master data management, and golden record configuration and management). This person owns hiring, coaching, and performance management for all India personnel on the data and integrations teams, and partners closely with U.S.-based counterparts, including the Manager, Data & Analytics Engineering and the Principal Platform Architect and Principal Data Architect, to coordinate workload distribution, execution, and planning across time zones so that the India team operates as a fully integrated extension of isolved's global data and integrations organization.

Core Job Duties

Serve as the primary people leader for all India-based personnel on the data and integrations teams, spanning data platform, data engineering, and integration automation disciplines.Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning to support the growth of the India team.Hire, onboard, and build a high-performing, collaborative India-based data and integrations organization.Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and address performance issues effectively.Partner with U.S.-based counterparts, including the Manager, Data & Analytics Engineering and the Principal Platform Architect and Principal Data Architect, to coordinate workload distribution, execution, and planning across time zones.Ensure consistent standards, practices, and quality bar between the India and U.S. data and integrations teams.Own delivery of system-to-system data integrations, ideally built on Workato, including source and target schema design and mapping between isolved and its ecosystem of ERP, CRM, and partner systems.Own master data management and golden record configuration and management practices for the India team's scope of work, applying matching, deduplication, and survivorship standards.Maintain deep, working knowledge of APIs, including how to design, secure, and structure them for reliable, scalable, automated execution.Oversee data platform and analytics engineering work in India, including administration and support of Databricks, Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, and Hightouch.Own data architecture standards for the India team's scope of work, including medallion architecture, data mesh, dimensional modeling (star and snowflake schemas), data cubes, and materialized views, in partnership with the Principal Data Architect.Own data lineage, integrity, and cleanliness standards for India-delivered data work, and ensure the team applies data governance and cataloging practices (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation) consistently with global standards.Apply data quality and testing frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests) to catch and resolve data issues before they reach downstream consumers.Ensure the India team's data pipeline work spans the full lifecycle, from ingestion through transformation, storage, and downstream consumption, including batch and, where appropriate, real-time/streaming patterns.Factor data lifecycle, retention, archival, and storage/compute cost optimization into architecture and delivery decisions.Maintain expert-level fluency in SQL and strong hands-on fluency in PySpark, sufficient to review, guide, and, when needed, directly contribute to complex data engineering and data architecture work.Track and balance capacity and workload across the India team, coordinating handoffs and shared work with U.S. shifts to keep delivery continuous across time zones.Represent the India team in global roadmap, planning, and prioritization discussions, bringing India-specific context and constraints into those conversations.Serve as an escalation point for production data and integration issues originating from or affecting the India team, coordinating incident response with U.S. counterparts as needed.Promote adoption of AI-assisted development and automation tools, and establish metrics to improve engineering productivity and delivery reliability.Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, security, integrations, and analytics stakeholders in both India and the U.S. to ensure platform effectiveness and data integrity.

Job Complexity

Works on issues of significant scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including cross-regional business and operational considerations. Establishes objectives and work plans for the India data and integrations organization, and exercises judgment in adapting global standards and priorities to local execution. Erroneous decisions or judgment could result in delays in schedules and may impact the overall success of the function. Develops and administers schedules, staffing plans, and performance requirements for the India team; may have budget responsibilities.

Interaction

Frequently interacts with senior management, functional peer group managers, and cross-regional counterparts in the U.S. and India, normally involving matters between functional areas, regions, or business units. Regularly leads a cooperative effort among India and U.S. team members to align on priorities, execution, and planning across time zones.

Supervision

Manages the coordination of the activities of the India data and integrations organization, with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing. Understands management practices, particularly around professional development and cross-regional team coordination, and is skilled at handling difficult management situations independently.

Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years of direct experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, or integration engineering, with 4+ years of people management experience, including experience managing distributed or cross-regional teams.

Minimum Qualifications

8-10+ years of professional experience spanning both data engineering/data platform work and systems integration work.4+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.Proven experience managing distributed or cross-regional teams, ideally coordinating with U.S.-based counterparts across time zones.Well-versed in both the data side of the house (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Hightouch) and the integrations side of the house (system-to-system data integrations, ideally with Workato).Principal-level depth on the data architecture side: strong understanding of medallion architecture, data mesh, dimensional modeling (star and snowflake schemas), data cubes, and materialized views.Expert-level SQL and strong hands-on experience with PySpark, sufficient to guide and review complex data engineering and data architecture work.Experience with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and data quality/testing frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests).Experience with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse platform and Airflow or equivalent tooling for pipeline orchestration.Experience with data sharing technologies and patterns (e.g., Snowflake Secure Data Sharing, Databricks Delta Sharing), including the governance and access considerations they require.Understanding of data lifecycle management, retention/archival policies, and storage/compute cost optimization.Deep understanding of APIs, including designing, securing, and structuring them for reliable, automated execution.Strong understanding of source and target schema design and mapping for system-to-system integrations.Experience with master data management and golden record configuration and management, including matching, deduplication, and survivorship logic.Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently address complex, cross-regional challenges.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across geographies, time zones, and cultures.Demonstrated ability to translate global priorities and standards into local execution plans.Preferred Qualifications:Direct hands-on experience with WorkatoExperience with Parabola.io or comparable low-code automation toolsFamiliarity with streaming/real-time data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs) as a complement to batch pipeline experienceHands-on experience with big data ecosystem services such as Hadoop, Hive, HBase, YARN, and SparkProfessional services or customer-facing implementation experienceExperience operating in a follow-the-sun or globally distributed delivery model

Position Details

Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Travel Required: Yes, up to 15% travel may be required, including periodic travel to the U.S. for team and stakeholder alignment.
