About The Role
Role Description:
The Business Analytics & Insights (BAI) team at Amgen plays a pivotal role as a strategic partner to many cross functional teams such as Commercial, Medical, Finance, R&D, Corp Affairs, offering data-backed insights crucial for driving the success of Amgen’s products and portfolio. As a Senior Manager of Forecasting at Amgen India, you will lead critical forecasting workstreams and collaborate with cross functional stakeholders across regions to support the global commercial organization. This is a hands-on strategic and operational role that blends technical forecasting skills with commercial insight generation and extensive collaboration with senior (ED & VP level) audiences across geographies—including partners in the U.S., Portugal, and internal contract teams in India. This role’s emphasis will be as an individual contributor supporting Amgen senior executive decision making but will also include management responsiblitlies and mentoring & coaching of junior staff and/or external consultants. The ideal candidate will possess strong pharmaceutical forecasting and analytics experience, high data fluency, emerging AI tool familiarity, and strong written & verbal communication skills to help drive Amgen’s commercial success & shape the next-generation forecasting and analytics capabilities.
This role reports to the Director of Forecasting and Competitive Intelligence and operates within the broader framework of Business Analytics and Insights (BAI).
This role is for Amgen’s India Hyderabad Office. You will work on-site a minimum of 4 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Forecast Leadership:Own forecast development for pipeline and occasionally inline assets, depending on assigned therapeutic area.Build and lead discussions on forecast assumptions, drivers, and scenarios with global or U.S. Executive Director Brand Leads and their teamsLeads forecast synthesis for executive-level review, including story building & risk/opp framingStrategic Partnering:Apply business judgment founded on knowledge of pharma/biotech industry and Amgen products / business to integrate market dynamics, competitor insights, and assumptions into forecasts, acting as a thought partner to forecasting lead, commercial brand leads, and finance teams.Translate market events and competitive insights into business implications.Drives cross-regional alignment on forecast assumptions; provides input to long-range planning and business reviewsReflects on forecast assumptions, methodology & business context and flags inconsistencies or other issues to the broader team for discussion & alignment.Capability Building:Contribute to setting up Amgen India’s forecasting operations.Mentor junior team members and contract resources; instill best practices and continuous improvement culture.Develop capabilities that bring in efficiency in work and utilize evolving technologyAdvanced Analytics Integration:Introduce and scale AI and automation tools as appropriate across relevant brands to improve efficiency and quality.Adopt new forecasting methods, data visualization techniques, and simulation models (e.g., Monte Carlo) where applicableCollaboration and Communication:Coordinate across global teams, including U.S., Portugal, and internal stakeholders.Closely work with cross functional teams representing Commercial, Finance, Medical, Value & Access, Analytics, Insights, and CIDevelop executive-ready outputs and ensure accurate translation of assumptions into actionable insights.Demonstrate & model Amgen value of being respectful to others and to a diverse working environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience in forecasting, commercial analytics, or data science (or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience)
Preferred Qualifications:
Deep understanding of pharma/biotech industry & forecasting function within the industry. Expertise with pipeline forecasting.Hands-on experience building and reviewing Excel-based models and simulation techniquesStrong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities; able to influence across functions and geographiesFamiliarity with AI tools, predictive analytics, and agentic platformsProject management skills & ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environmentStrong communicator with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
