A Day in the Life

The Product DNA PLM team at Medtronic is responsible for building and enhancing enterprise PLM solutions that enable efficient product development, compliance, and lifecycle management across global operations.

As a Sr Test Engineer (Product DNA PLM), you will drive quality engineering and testing strategies for PLM platforms such as Windchill and ThingWorx. You will ensure end-to-end quality across applications, validate complex integrations, and support delivery across multiple agile workstreams.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and architects to ensure applications meet functional, technical, and performance expectations in a fast-paced, regulated environment

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Define and execute end-to-end test strategies for PLM applicationsEnsure adherence to quality standards, benchmarks, and best practicesCoordinate QA efforts across multiple workstreamsAct as a key point of contact for offshore QA teamsValidate configurations, customizations, and enhancements in Windchill and ThingWorxDefine test coverage for functional and technical componentsReview solution design and technical documentation from a QA perspectiveEnsure alignment with enterprise standards and best practicesCollaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirementsDefine acceptance criteria and resolve requirement ambiguitiesValidate end-to-end business workflows and user experiencesEnsure alignment with Product DNA processesPerform validation of integrations across CAD, ERP, MES, MDM, and PIM systemsEnsure data integrity, interface validation, and system interoperabilityIdentify and resolve cross-system issues and dependenciesWork within Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall methodologiesParticipate in cross-team coordination (Scrum of Scrums)Manage sprint-level test planning, execution, and reportingEnsure timely delivery of test milestones and releasesSupport development and enhancement of test automation frameworksContribute to CI/CD-driven testing practicesEnable continuous testing and quality gatesValidate system performance, scalability, and reliabilityEnsure alignment with enterprise architectureCollaborate with architects on solution validationIdentify testing risks, assumptions, and dependenciesTrack and resolve defects impacting system stabilityMitigate cross-release and cross-functional risksAssess application readiness for production deploymentEnsure defect closure and test completionSupport go-live and post-production validationWork closely with global teams across engineering, QA, and businessEnsure alignment between technical solutions and business needsContribute to overall quality ownership and accountability

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or related field7-12 years of experience in QA/Test EngineeringStrong experience with Windchill PLM and ThingWorxExperience in integration testing across enterprise systemsKnowledge of test strategy, automation, and CI/CD practicesUnderstanding of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologiesAbility to work with distributed/offshore teamsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Nice to Haves:Experience in medical devices or regulated environmentsKnowledge of GxP, validation, and compliance processesExperience with test automation tools and frameworksFamiliarity with PLM data models and enterprise architectureExperience working in global, cross-functional teams
