Role Overview

GlobalData’s Consulting Team to strengthen our Data Science team within Consumer Consulting. This is a senior, hands-on role owning quantitative workstreams — market sizing, forecasting and scenario modelling — across custom, strategy-led consulting engagements for clients spanning Consumer, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Retail, Automotive, Agriculture and other verticals. We are looking first for strong general analytical ability, structured thinking and consulting judgement; ability to reason clearly about data and client problems, and to pick up new tools quickly.

What We Are Looking For

5-8+ of experience in consulting, market research, or a strongly analytical commercial role, with meaningful exposure to data modelling or market sizing work.Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, structured spreadsheet design) and clear comfort building or working within a data model.Strong general analytical and quantitative reasoning — able to work with imperfect, multi-source data, spot inconsistencies, and defend assumptions.Good written and verbal communication skills; able to present findings clearly, including to clients or senior stakeholders. Some experience — or clear potential and willingness — to review work and mentor junior consultants or analysts.Prior experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) in day-to-day research and modelling workBasic familiarity with a dashboarding or data-visualisation tool (Power BI or similar) is helpfulExposure to any of Consumer, Foodservice, Packaging, Retail, Automotive or Agriculture sectors is a plus, but not essential — genuine interest in learning a sector matters more than prior coverage of it.

Good To Have

Working knowledge of Python and/or SQL for data manipulation.Experience contributing to forecasting models that use macroeconomic or demographic drivers.Experience designing primary research instruments (surveys, discussion guides, store audits) or briefing external field agencies.Basic ability to read and interpret company financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, annual/quarterly filings).Prior exposure to using AI/automation to speed up secondary desk research or report generation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead data modelling workstreams — market sizing, demand forecasting, scenario analysis — primarily in Excel, turning primary and secondary data into clear, defensible, client-ready outputs.Shape analytical frameworks and methodology for consulting engagements (sizing logic, driver trees, cross-checks), in partnership with Consulting Directors.Contribute to the design and quality review of primary and secondary research — surveys, store audits, desk research — that feeds into models and deliverables.Partner with clients and Consulting Directors to interpret findings and translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.Review and quality-control the analytical work of consultants and analysts; help set a consistent standard of rigour and structure across the team.Manage and mentor junior consultants and analysts on a workstream basis, developing their modelling and consulting skills.Contribute to report writing and deliverable narratives, ensuring outputs are client-ready and consistent with GlobalData's standards.Use, and help the team adopt, AI tools and simple automation to speed up desk research and modelling tasks (e.g. summarising industry reports, structuring SKU or pricing data, drafting survey questions) — training and support will be provided to build this up on the job.Help translate model outputs into simple dashboards or visual summaries for clients and internal stakeholders, using whatever tools you're comfortable with (Excel, Power BI, or similar).Work cross-functionally with other verticals to bring data-science thinking into broader consulting solutions and proposals.
