Join the industry leader to drive value engineering, cost reduction and productivity for PA products.

Be part of the PA Value Engineering and Component Engineering Center of Excellence team. In this role, you will work with global product engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality and ISC teams to find practical cost reduction ideas and convert them into savings projects. The focus is to reduce product cost, improve manufacturability, support supply continuity and protect product quality, reliability, certification and customer requirements.

The engineer will support both VE NPI and sustaining business through value design optimization, alternate source qualification, component standardization, localization, supplier changes and manufacturing improvement projects across the PA product portfolio.

Responsibilities

Role Purpose

Generate new VE/CE ideas from productivity events, design reviews, BOM reviews, supplier inputs, manufacturing feedback, field issues and benchmarking.Check each idea for technical feasibility, cost saving potential, risk, validation needs and implementation effort.Convert approved ideas into productivity or savings projects and drive them from concept to implementation.Deliver savings while maintaining design intent, product performance, quality, safety and certification compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Directly Accountable For

Identify and execute Value Engineering and Component Engineering opportunities for PA products.Review product designs, drawings, BOMs and manufacturing processes to find cost, quality, manufacturability and supply continuity improvements.Generate new cost saving ideas through product teardown, benchmarking, supplier discussions, plant inputs and engineering reviews.Evaluate ideas for savings value, technical feasibility, certification impact, quality risk and implementation timeline.Prepare simple business cases for approved ideas and convert them into productivity or savings projects.Lead execution of savings projects from idea stage through design update, validation, qualification, ECO release and implementation.Support alternate material, alternate supplier, localization, part commonization and design optimization projects.Perform engineering assessments to make sure proposed changes meet product performance, reliability, safety and customer requirements.Prepare and review 2D production drawings, 3D CAD models, design calculations, DFMEA, tolerance stack-up, qualification documents, ECN packages and technical reports.Support certification and qualification impact assessments for design changes, including HazLoc products where applicable.Work with sourcing and suppliers to evaluate alternate components, manufacturing processes and cost reduction proposals.Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product, manufacturing and field issues where design changes are needed.Participate in design reviews and provide practical recommendations focused on cost, manufacturability, reliability and quality.

Qualifications

You Must Have

4 to 6 years of relevant Mechanical Design experience in Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, Process Control, Marine or related industry.Good knowledge of mechanical design principles, product development practices and manufacturing processes.Experience in product cost reduction, value engineering, productivity or sustaining engineering projects.Knowledge of Hazardous Area product design and global standards such as IECEx, ATEX, FM and CSA is preferred.Strong understanding of design calculations, tolerance stack-up, GD&T, DFMEA, DFM and DFA.Experience with machined parts, plastics, sheet metal parts and surface finishing processes.Hands-on experience in SolidWorks and Creo.Working experience with Teamcenter, PDM/PLM systems and ECO/ECR activities.Good understanding of NPI and sustaining engineering life cycle.Ability to work with global engineering, sourcing, quality, manufacturing and supplier teams.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Able to communicate effectively in English.Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage.

Additional Qualifications

Knowledge of PA products and applications will be an added advantage.Experience in VE/CE, localization, alternate sourcing, should-cost or supplier productivity projects is preferred.Lean or Six Sigma exposure will be an advantage.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Practical engineering thinking with a cost-conscious mindset.Self-driven, accountable and comfortable working independently.Good team player with strong stakeholder management skills.Ability to convert ideas into executable projects and close them with measurable savings.
