A Day in the Life
The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow applications and platform capabilities. This role partners with business analysts, architects, and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions, integrations, digital experiences, and automation capabilities that support business objectives while following platform best practices
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Design, develop, or modify custom and ServiceNow applications, scripts, widgets, and servicesAnalyse existing and new functionality for implementation, enhancement, or removalParticipate in entire development lifecycleDesign and develop integrations with third-party softwareDesign and develop portal and mobile-friendly web experience components including HTML, CSS, and front- and back-end scriptingPerform configuration of the ServiceNow platform, including workspaces, portals, workflows, flows, reports, dashboards, AI Search, Now Assist, and data importsCollaborates with Business Process Analysts and ServiceNow Architects to transform business requirements into technical requirements and designsProvide technical guidance during workshopsConduct testing, identify and fix bugs during all stages of the development processDevelop system design documentation (including GUI design, if required), perform coding, and test/debug programs.Develop conversion and system implementation plans.Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.Correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile documentation for program support.Conduct and participate in peer reviewsManage update sets/source control; support release/change managementCommunicate with senior internal and external customers and vendorsProvides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.Work independently under limited supervision to determine and develop solutions.
Required knowledge and experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R.214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree plus relevant experienceActive ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certificationProficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and AJAX, along with experience in web application development and ServiceNow platform functionalitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues and optimize processesExcellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholdersRelevant certifications such as ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or Certified Implementation Specialist (HR/CSM/ITSM)Demonstrated experience implementing or supporting ServiceNow installations of CSM, HR Pro, NowAssist, or Employee Center Pro Nice to Haves:Demonstrated Experience developing and supporting custom Service Portal widgets and pages, including complex CSS and user interfacesPractical Experience with ServiceNow AI Search configuration and optimizationPractical Experience with NowAssist configuration and optimizationPractical Experience building and supporting custom Configurable WorkspacesExperience with designing and building Flow Designer FlowsExperience designing and implementing custom REST integrationsExperience configuring OAuth authentication and Single Sign-on solutions
