About the Role

The Principal Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining, upholding, and communicating the Business and Information Technology Architecture that supports the Bank's vision and strategic intent. This role also provides enterprise architecture services for new initiatives and ensures alignment with the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

Define and obtain approval for architecture insights, vision, and strategy ensuring alignment with business, data, and technology architecture strategy.Provide oversight to ensure current state Enterprise Architectures are well defined and domain-specific architectures align with enterprise-level strategy and direction.Propose new architecture where appropriate.Create architecture roadmaps at the product portfolio level, collaborating with executives to translate business strategy and technology objectives into an Enterprise Architectural approach.Work across operational asset owners to improve mapping/linkage of the bank’s operational assets to technology architecture to deliver improved insight.Review project deliverables from project technical leads and IT teams to ensure they meet data standards.Provide guidance and training to project team members to impart knowledge and skills to support future growth.Provide input for departmental budget and forecasting, and manage expenses associated with initiatives within scope of responsibility.Provide critical decision support, guidance, and recommendations regarding data design deliverables to project teams supporting business solution delivery.

Secondary Responsibilities

Act as the technical authority in the given domain to guide all architects.Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the team.Create an environment that promotes collaborative learning and collective ownership of responsibilities.

What We Are Looking For

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

Proven experience in enterprise architecture, with a strong understanding of business, data, and technology architecture. Experience in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance or Information Technology Enabled Services will be preferred.

Job Purpose:

The Observability Architect provides strategic leadership to define and advance enterprise-wide observability capabilities across the organization. This role drives the adoption of modern observability practices to enhance system reliability, operational resilience, and performance visibility. It is responsible for establishing observability standards, governance frameworks, and scalable telemetry architectures while enabling engineering teams to proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize complex distributed systems. The position also plays a key role in fostering observability excellence, improving service reliability metrics, and aligning technology initiatives with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own the enterprise observability vision, roadmap, standards, and governance.Lead and mentor the Observability Engineering team.Design and implement enterprise-scale Open Telemetry architectures.Establish standards for metrics, logs, traces, events, and business telemetry.Drive end-to-end distributed tracing and application performance monitoring.Define and govern SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and alerting standards.Lead observability adoption across cloud, platform, infrastructure, and application teams.Optimize telemetry pipelines for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Technical Expertise

Open Telemetry SDKs and Collectors.Distributed Tracing, Metrics, Logs, and Telemetry Pipelines.Kubernetes and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, Elastic, or AppDynamics.Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD, and DevOps Automation.Java, .NET, Python, Go, or Node.js.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology

Required Experience

12+ years in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE, or Enterprise Architecture.5+ years leading observability or platform engineering teams.3+ years of hands-on Open Telemetry architecture experience.Strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and enterprise monitoring.
