Role Overview

The Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) organization is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, resilient, and standardized enterprise data platform capabilities across multi-cloud environments. This role is a platform engineering and operations position (Officer level) focused on:

Platform enablement and standardizationCloud infrastructure and data platform operationsGovernance, risk, and compliance alignmentAutomation and operational excellence

The position emphasizes run-based ownership, platform lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration, and is not a software development role.

Core Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & OperationsOwn end-to-end operational management of enterprise data platforms across Azure and AWSEnsure high availability, resiliency, and performance of cloud-based data platformsDrive standardization of platform configurations, deployment patterns, and operational controlsSupport platform lifecycle activities: provisioning, onboarding, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & AutomationDesign and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using TerraformDevelop reusable platform modules and templates for consistent deploymentsAutomate operational workflows using:Azure CLI / AWS CLIBash / PowerShell scriptingPython (where applicable)Reduce manual effort by implementing self-service and automated provisioning frameworks CI/CD & Platform DeliveryBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for:Infrastructure provisioningEnvironment promotionPlatform configuration managementEnable controlled, auditable, and repeatable deploymentsEnsure segregation of duties and compliance alignment in deployment workflows Governance, Security & ComplianceEnforce enterprise-wide security controls and governance frameworks, including:RBAC (Role-Based Access Control)Encryption (at rest and in transit)Key management (Azure Key Vault / AWS KMS)Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirementsParticipate in audit readiness, evidence collection, and remediation activitiesDrive secure-by-design platform principles Incident Management & Operational ExcellenceProvide L2/L3 support for platform incidents and service requestsLead incident triage, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA)Implement preventive measures and continuous improvement initiativesEstablish and maintain SLA/SLO adherence and observability standardsReduce Sev-1 incidents and operational risk through automation and standardization Data Platform & Tooling SupportSupport and manage enterprise BI and data integration tools, including:TalendQlik (Compose, Replicate/Attunity)Databricks (optional)Ensure platform stability, scalability, and integration across data ecosystemsEnable data platform onboarding for business and engineering teams Cost Optimization & Performance EngineeringMonitor and optimize cloud resource utilization and costImplement cost governance controls and tagging strategiesDrive performance tuning and capacity planningProvide insights on cost vs. performance trade-offs Documentation & Platform EnablementDevelop and maintain:Runbooks (primary deliverable from CPE)Operational playbooksArchitecture and configuration documentationStandardize onboarding guides and platform usage patternsEnsure operational transparency and knowledge sharing across teams Stakeholder & Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with:Architecture teamsSecurity & RiskApplication and Data Engineering teamsCloud platform providers and vendorsAct as a platform SME, enabling adoption across enterprise teamsContribute to platform strategy and roadmap discussions

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering / data platform operationsStrong hands-on experience with:Microsoft Azure and/or AWSTerraform (Infrastructure as Code)Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines)Strong scripting and automation expertise:Bash / PowerShell / Python / REST APIsSolid understanding of:Cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks ecosystems)Networking, security, and cloud architecture patternsProven experience in:Production support environments (L2/L3 support)Incident management and RCA processesStrong knowledge of:RBAC, IAM, encryption, governance, compliance frameworksExcellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Financial Services / regulated environments (e.g., FFIEC, SOC2, etc.)Exposure to multi-tenant or shared enterprise platform modelsExperience supporting SaaS-based data platformsFamiliarity with:Snowflake ecosystemData governance toolingObservability and monitoring frameworksExperience working in customer-facing or consulting rolesAwareness of AI/ML-driven automation and platform efficienciesExperience in platform onboarding, enablement, and adoption programs
