Role OverviewAs a Social Media Strategist, you will be responsible for developing social media strategies and content directions for brands and campaigns.You will work closely with the Strategy, Creative, Influencer Marketing, Planning, and Revenue teams to develop ideas that are platform-native, culturally relevant, creator-friendly, and aligned with brand objectives.The ideal candidate is someone who spends a lot of time understanding social media, follows emerging trends closely, knows why certain content works, and can translate those observations into actionable strategies.This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, cultural understanding, content expertise, platform knowledge, and strong execution skills.

Key Responsibilities1. Social Media StrategyDevelop comprehensive social media strategies based on brand objectives, target audiences, category dynamics, and platform behaviour.Translate business and communication objectives into clear social media strategies.Define the role of different social platforms within a campaign or brand ecosystem.Develop content pillars, themes, formats, and communication territories.Build social strategies for launches, campaigns, always-on communication, and influencer-led initiatives.Identify opportunities to make brand communication more relevant to current social conversations and cultural moments.Develop platform-specific approaches rather than applying the same content strategy across all platforms.

2. Content Strategy & IdeationDevelop content ideas that are relevant, engaging, and aligned with the brand's positioning.Create content frameworks and creative territories for social platforms.Develop campaign concepts that can be translated into creator-led and social-first content.Work closely with creative teams to convert strategic thinking into strong content ideas.Develop hooks, content angles, storytelling approaches, and formats for different platforms.Identify opportunities for short-form video, reels, carousels, stories, memes, creator content, and other emerging formats.Ensure ideas are both strategically relevant and realistically executable.

3. Social & Cultural TrendsStay highly updated on Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.Track emerging formats, memes, trends, creators, communities, conversations, and cultural moments.Identify trends that can be meaningfully connected to brands.Distinguish between short-lived trends and trends with genuine strategic relevance.Build regular trend reports or trend-led recommendations for internal and client teams.Identify opportunities for brands to participate in relevant conversations without appearing forced or disconnected.Maintain a strong understanding of changing social-media behaviour and audience preferences.

4. Influencer & Creator StrategyDevelop influencer strategies aligned with the overall social media and communication strategy.Recommend creator profiles based on audience, content style, credibility, relevance, and campaign objectives.Define the role creators should play within a campaign.Develop creator content directions, storytelling frameworks, and content territories.Identify opportunities for creators to create content that feels native to their communities rather than overly branded.Collaborate with Planning and Talent Management teams to identify relevant creators.Provide clear strategic direction to creators while allowing sufficient creative freedom.Evaluate creator content from a strategic and brand perspective.

5. Campaign StrategyDevelop strategic frameworks for influencer and social media campaigns.Understand the campaign brief and identify the core communication challenge.Define the campaign thought, communication territory, audience insight, and content approach.Develop campaign narratives that can be executed across multiple creators and platforms.Build campaign journeys from awareness to engagement and action where relevant.Develop strategic presentations and campaign proposals for internal and client-facing discussions.Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute strategic and creative thinking.Ensure campaign ideas are differentiated, relevant, and aligned with the brand.

6. Social Listening & Audience InsightsMonitor social conversations and audience behaviour around relevant categories and brands.Identify audience pain points, interests, behaviours, and content preferences.Conduct social listening and competitor analysis.Identify gaps and opportunities in the brand's current social presence.Track competitor campaigns, creator partnerships, content formats, and communication approaches.Convert observations into actionable insights and recommendations.Use social and audience insights to continuously improve content strategy.
