The General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) of American Express is where great legal minds influence global business strategy. Under the general supervision of the Legal Analyst, the Legal Operations Specialist will support the Global Litigation & Investigations Team and the Global Legal Order Processing Centre of Excellence. This role will be primarily responsible for supporting the end-to-end processing of third-party legal orders for the India market and other duties as required including providing document India litigation requests.

Responsibilities

As part of the Global Litigation and Investigations Team within the General Counsel’s organization of Amex, the Legal Operations Specialist will provide dedicated support for the processing of third-party legal orders. Duties may include the following:

Open legal matters in case management system and route to correct workstreamAssess the validity of the legal request in accordance with Amex proceduresPrepare correspondence to an issuer of a legal requestEvaluate legal requests, research accounts, and identify documents responsive to legal requestsRetrieve documents and prepare responses in accordance with applicable laws and Amex proceduresComply in all aspects with US and other applicable country laws and Amex procedures

Qualifications

Graduates in law or related subjects0-2 years of experience in an operations team/ in-house legal departmentArticulate and fluent verbal and written EnglishSense of urgency, ability to discern critical matters and to meet deadlinesStrong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office SuiteAble to work independently and as a team playerStrong written and oral communication skillsMeticulous with attention to detail, able to analyze and problem solveAble to quickly train on, navigate, and extract information from a variety of databases and information platforms
