Meta is seeking an experienced Public Policy Manager to lead policy engagement on economic regulations in India. In this role, you will report to the Public Policy Director, India, proactively engaging with Indian government officials, regulators, and key external stakeholders on issues affecting Meta's family of apps and technologies, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and emerging technologies such as AI and wearable devices. You will focus on developing and executing public policy strategies across Competition Policy, Infrastructure/Telecom Policy, Commerce Policy, and Monetisation/Ads Policy, advancing Meta's mission while navigating India's evolving regulatory landscape.
Economic Policy Manager, India Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive public policy strategies for India across Competition Policy, Infrastructure/Telecom Policy, Commerce Policy, and Monetisation/Ads Policy, reporting to the Public Policy Director, IndiaProactively develop and maintain relationships with Indian government officials, regulators, parliamentary committees, and relevant industry and civil society stakeholders to advance Meta's policy positions on economic regulationsMonitor, analyze, and communicate the implications of Indian legislative and regulatory developments in competition, telecom/infrastructure, commerce, and advertising policy to internal cross-functional teams including legal, product, communications, and operationsSupport Meta's participation in industry associations and multi-stakeholder forums relevant to India's economic and digital policy environmentDevelop policy positions, briefing materials, and written submissions for regulatory consultations, parliamentary inquiries, and government engagements on economic regulation mattersPartner with global and regional policy teams to align India-specific strategies with broader policy frameworks while maintaining focus on India's unique regulatory contextProvide research, analysis, and decision support to the Public Policy Director on high-priority economic policy risks and opportunities in IndiaCollaborate with product and legal teams to assess the policy implications of new product launches, monetisation features, and platform changes in the Indian marketIdentify emerging policy risks in competition, infrastructure, commerce, and advertising regulations and contribute to mitigation strategies, coordinating cross-functional responses to regulatory inquiries or enforcement actionsSupport organizational strategy by contributing to goals and priorities for India economic policy engagement
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with direct engagement in India's policy or regulatory environmentExperience engaging with Indian government institutions, regulatory bodies, or legislative processes on technology, digital, competition, or economic policy mattersExperience developing policy positions, written submissions, or briefing materials for government or regulatory audiencesExperience working in a rapidly evolving environment, collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams, adapting flexibly to ambiguous situations, and aligning on shared goals with team members
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologiesExperience translating complex regulatory or legislative developments into actionable product or business guidance for non-policy audiencesExperience working within or alongside technology companies, trade associations, or regulatory bodies on competition, commerce, or digital infrastructure mattersDemonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority policy workstreams simultaneously, aligning diverse internal and external stakeholders toward shared outcomesExperience working on economic policy issues such as competition/antitrust policy, telecom/infrastructure regulation, e-commerce policy, or advertising/monetisation regulations in IndiaExperience providing strategic policy advice and decision support to senior leaders or executives in complex, fast-moving regulatory environments
