Overview
The University of Southampton, in partnership with Oxford International Education Group (OIEG), has successfully launched its first international campus in India, located in Gurgaon, Delhi. This initiative, developed in response to India's New Education Policy, represents a significant investment in transnational education. Job Purpose
The Deputy Head of Admissions has a critical role to play in achieving admissions targets and objectives. You will play an active part in achieving business performance targets and drawing student talent to the institution. You must be hands-on with the entire admissions journey from application evaluation and offer generation through till enrolment at university to ensure responsive and expert support to students. You will also contribute towards efficient admissions workflows by optimising processes and technologies.
In this key role you will contribute to impact in higher education, achieving admissions that support organisational goals and delivering superior admissions experience to prospective students. The role will report to the Director, Admissions and Marketing Planning, University of Southampton Delhi.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy & Targets
Create and deliver effective admissions and enrolment plans to achieve institution's student intake across all programmes.
Ensure application assessment as per defined standards, enrolling students of the desired academic profile.
Comply with admissions policy in the UK and Indian education environments, with special focus on aligning to global Southampton admissions requirements.
Continually improve and streamline existing workflows, admission processes and systems and oversee operational effectiveness to meet defined SLAs.
Support the processing of scholarship and bursary applications
Reporting
Track admission metrics, analyse trends and present regular progress reports to leadership.
Analyse admissions data to generate timely reports to support admissions operations and decision-making.
Monitor admissions metrics to optimise the funnel and implement continuous learning.
Maintain confidential and sensitive student records and documentation, in keeping with GDPR and other data privacy regulations as relevant.
Student guidance and communication towards student engagement and admissions experience.
Monitor student enquiries for a timely and empathetic response
Develop and manage communication flows for admissions and scholarship processing
Support the planning and execution of university and admissions events such as offer-holder events, Open Days, admissions events.
Enrolment management
Lead document verification and student enrolment including maintenance of student records and data integrity.
Develop enrolment touchpoints and admissions communication for incoming students.
Maintain strong relationships with the student experience team to support transition into university.
Team Leadership
Motivate, hire, train, and manage the admissions team.
Communicate corporate targets and translate these into individual objectives for each team member.
Motivate and guide team members to achieve objectives, offering regular feedback.
Support teams by developing knowledge and skills to improve work performance including training and onboarding new hires.
Develop knowledge and training resources and manage standard operating procedures.
Cross-functional collaboration
Delivery of a seamless, engaging and empathetic student admission process in keeping with University of Southampton value proposition and brand.
Collaborate with academic and professional services teams to achieve admissions objectives.
Work closely with the global admissions team, ensuring communication of plans, compliance and reporting as required.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, post-graduate qualification in management
Experience and knowledge
Experience working in the higher education sector at a university in a mid-senior management position
Expert knowledge of admissions processing and evaluation of applications
Experience of working with student information and CRM systems
Experience of Indian and British education systems. (Desirable)
Exposure to statutory admissions reporting. (Desirable)
Skills and abilities
Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, including spoken and written English
Proficiency with student information systems (SIS), customer relationship management (CRM) databases.
Meticulous planner with high attention to detail.
Exposure to international, cross-cultural work environments (Desirable)
