About The Role.

As part of McCain’s digital transformation, we are investing significantly in our data platforms, governance practices, and enterprise information management capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Data Archiving Analyst to join our Data Platform Governance team and lead the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of McCain’s global data archiving and retention framework.

This role serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for data retention, archiving, and disposal across McCain’s global technology landscape, with a particular focus on SAP S/4HANA, SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), and the Databricks Enterprise Data Platform. The successful candidate will help ensure that data is retained appropriately, archived efficiently, and disposed of in compliance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements while reducing organizational risk and storage costs.

What You’ll Be Doing.

Own and evolve McCain’s global data archiving and retention strategy, policies, standards, and operating procedures.Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data retention schedules aligned to legal, regulatory, and business requirements across multiple jurisdictions.Define and implement data disposal and defensible deletion processes that are auditable and compliant.Establish and manage legal hold processes in collaboration with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams.Lead the design, configuration, governance, and operation of SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) within McCain’s RISE with S/4HANA environment.Govern SAP archiving objects across key functional domains including Finance, Controlling, Materials Management, Sales & Distribution, Production Planning, Quality Management, and Plant Maintenance.Partner with SAP Basis teams and managed service providers to monitor archiving activities, content server capacity, and archiving performance.Ensure ILM residence and destruction rules are properly configured to support retention and automated disposition requirements.Define and enforce data lifecycle management policies within Databricks, including Delta Lake retention controls, VACUUM schedules, and time-travel management.Collaborate with data platform teams to apply data classifications, retention tags, and access controls using Unity Catalog.Design storage tiering and archival strategies that transition inactive data to cost-effective storage while maintaining recoverability and compliance.Serve as the primary escalation point and subject matter expert for enterprise data archiving and retention matters.Partner with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and business stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into practical governance controls.Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary data accumulation, associated costs, and regulatory risks.Maintain data archiving and retention risk registers and communicate priorities, risks, and roadmap updates to senior stakeholders.Represent the archiving and retention function in governance forums, steering committees, and cross-functional initiatives.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.7+ years of experience in data management, data governance, enterprise data architecture, or a related discipline with a strong focus on data retention and archiving.Deep hands-on expertise with SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), SAP archiving objects (SARA), residence rules, and destruction rules within large-scale S/4HANA environments.Experience working with SAP RISE with S/4HANA or comparable SAP cloud-managed service environments.Understanding of shared responsibility models associated with SAP cloud services and ILM operations.Knowledge of Databricks technologies including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, VACUUM operations, and data lifecycle management concepts.Experience developing and operationalizing enterprise-wide data retention policies across multiple business domains and jurisdictions.Knowledge of storage tiering strategies and archival storage solutions.Strong understanding of global regulatory and compliance requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, SOX, tax retention requirements, and related regulations.Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across technical, legal, compliance, and business audiences.Demonstrated ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical governance controls and technical implementations.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.SAP ILM, data governance, privacy, or information management certifications.Certifications such as CDMP, CIPM, SAP certifications, or equivalent.Experience within food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or related industries.Knowledge of industry-specific data governance and regulatory requirements.

The team works closely with business functions, regional teams, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, SAP technology teams, and data platform stakeholders to establish governance standards that maximize business value while reducing risk. As the Data Archiving Analyst, you will play a critical role in shaping McCain’s enterprise data lifecycle strategy and ensuring governance practices support long-term growth and digital transformation objectives.
