JOB DESCRIPTION
The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. As part of the GRC function, the International Card Services (ICS) Line of Business Compliance (LOBCO) team performs second-line oversight of the ICS business, ensuring a robust and sustainable compliance risk management framework.
The team is responsible for providing Compliance oversight and credible challenge on the management of strategic multi-country compliance risks and performing execution of core components of the American Express Compliance Program.
This is an exciting opportunity to join ICS LOBCO working with 1st and 2nd line colleagues as stakeholders across Intl, incl. ICS Risk and Control / Control Management, Legal Entity Compliance Officers (LECO), Global Privacy Oversight (GPO), Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC), and other SME teams.
Responsibilities
The ICS LOBCO team is deadline driven, fast-paced and relies on flexible and continual prioritisation to effectively manage and deliver on our goals and responsibilities. The role will require the ability to flexibly support the ICS LOBCO team in executing their responsibilities across areas which include:
Supporting the ICS Line of Business Compliance Office in providing compliance oversight, governance, and credible challenge across strategic multi-country compliance risks while helping execute key components of the American Express Compliance Program. It partners closely with first, second and third line stakeholders, including Risk & Control, Legal Entity Compliance Officers, Privacy, Financial Crimes, and Audit teams. Supporting in tracking of various compliance program activities like regulatory testing quarterly tracking of results including highlighting action items Tracking and publishing of New product scoping review and challenges conducted by the LOBCO team. Providing Compliance oversight and guidance for Issue Events and Remediation Framework and reporting such as ICS owned multi-market Issues and OREs and ensuring LECOs are engaged appropriately. Supporting the Risk Performance Rating(RPR) process including understanding and assessing compliance risks, reviewing performance metrics and related impact to markets and ICS. Liasioning with the Legal Entity Compliance Officers for various multi market strategic initiatives and compliance projects, including key initiatives impacting legal entities as required. Building highly collaborative partnerships with a broad group of stakeholders including General Counsel's Organization (GCO), LECOs, Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC), Global Privacy Oversight, Operational Risk Management, ICS Risk & Control and broader ICS business teams, to ensure compliance with Enterprise-wide policies and procedures and local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Experience of working in Compliance role, or Control management, risk, testing, audit or legal experience Self-motivated, energetic team player with strong influencing, relationship building and management skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to manage and drive tasks to completion, take on additional responsibilities, and prioritise work in a constantly changing and deadline-driven environment Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across international markets with various levels of colleagues and leadership Comfortable to speak up, ask questions and challenge the status quo Working knowledge of the ICS business preferred Graduate ; Recognized Compliance or Risk Certification advantageous
