About the Role
The Credit Manager – Loan Against Property (LAP) is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, and approving credit proposals related to LAP products within the Retail Underwriting function. The role involves maintaining agreed service level deliverables, ensuring adherence to credit policies, and managing portfolio quality through regular monitoring and strategic account management. The incumbent will work closely with business teams to align credit decisions with the bank’s risk appetite and foster effective interpersonal relationships across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Underwrite secured and unsecured loan proposals in accordance with defined policies and procedures, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.Supervise a team of credit underwriters and provide necessary guidance and support.Conduct personal discussions with customers to assess creditworthiness.Minimize front-end delinquencies by proactively engaging with customers at the first sign of default.Ensure completion and verification of credit and KYC documentation through telephonic checks, field visits, and collateral inspections.Coordinate with the sales team to meet business targets and maintain SLA compliance.Ensure strict adherence to credit policies and regulatory standards.
Secondary Responsibilities
Monitor portfolio performance and identify early warning signals.Track deferrals and renewals and develop appropriate account strategies in collaboration with the business team.Maintain strong peer relationships and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
What We Are Looking For
Education
Graduate in any discipline (mandatory)
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in LAP or retail lending
