About The Role
Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to design and deliver mission-critical avionics software for commercial and military aircraft. In this role, you will work on the Information Management System (IMS)—a sophisticated platform responsible for transferring, managing, and presenting aircraft maintenance and configuration data between ground systems and cockpit environments.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in C++, Linux, and CI/CD pipelines, who thrives in complex, high-reliability environments and is passionate about building software that directly impacts aviation safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++ applications on Linux platformsSolve complex system challenges using strong data structures, algorithms, and OOD principlesDevelop and optimize multi-threaded and concurrent software componentsBuild, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deploymentCollaborate with global cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environmentUse Git and modern branching strategies for effective source code managementParticipate in architecture discussions, code reviews, debugging, and performance optimizationSupport test automation and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
10–14 years of overall software development experience10+ years of strong, hands-on C++ development experienceProven expertise with Linux OS and command-line toolsSolid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented designExperience building multi-threaded and concurrent systems9+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines (build, test, deploy automation)Hands-on experience with Git or similar version control systems
