Senior CDN & Edge Security Engineer (Akamai)

Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior CDN & Edge Security Operations Specialist with deep expertise in Akamaitechnologies to manage, optimize, and secure traffic for high-throughput Media and mission-criticalFintech platforms. In this role, you will lead the configuration, daily performance monitoring, edgesecurity enforcement (WAF/DDoS), and incident troubleshooting across our global edgeinfrastructure.

Key Responsibilities● Traffic & Cache Management: Design, configure, and maintain Akamai edge configurations(Property Manager, Edge DNS, GTM) to optimize HTTP/S cache ratios, lower origin load,and maximize reliability across microservices and API gateways.● WAF & DDoS Mitigation: Configure and tune Akamai security modules (App and Apiprotector, Web Application Protector, Bot Manager) to defend APIs and web applicationsagainst zero-day threats, automated bot attacks, and volumetric DDoS incidents.● Media Video Delivery: Optimize streaming workflows (HLS, DASH, VOD, and Livestreaming) using Akamai Adaptive Media Delivery (AMD) and Media Services Live to ensurelow latency, high throughput, and zero buffering during high-concurrency events.● Analytical Monitoring & Operations: Conduct daily analytical monitoring of cache hitratios, origin response times, error rates (4xx/5xx), and network egress. Lead root-causeanalysis (RCA) and performance tuning initiatives. Conducting security reviews over policies.● Incident Escalation & Vendor Support: Serve as a Tier-3 escalation point for on-calloperations teams. Work directly with Akamai Support and Technical Account Managers(TAMs) for platform escalations, feature deployments, and urgent architectural changes.● Automation Scripting: Write Python and Shell scripts to automate purge requests, logparsing, synthetic performance checks, and API interactions with Akamai OPEN EdgeGridAPIs.

Required Qualifications● Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BE) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or arelated field.● Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in CDN administration, HTTP proxy/cachetechnologies, and web application security, with primary specialization in the Akamaiplatform ecosystem.● Network & Security Depth: Solid operational understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/2 & HTTP/3,TLS/mTLS, DNS, BGP, Anycast routing, and stateful WAF rule customization.● Domain Expertise: Practical experience securing transactional Fintech environments (PCI-DSS considerations, secure API routing) and operating high-bandwidth video distributionnetworks.● Scripting Skills: Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for infrastructure monitoring andoperational automation.Preferred Qualifications● Akamai Network and Security Solutions certifications.● Experience managing multi-CDN configurations or implementing Infrastructure as Code(e.g., Terraform Akamai Provider) for edge deployments.● Familiarity with observability platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, or the ELK stack for loganalytics.
