Full job description

GE Vernova is hiring for the role of Systems Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

Insulation Coordination Studies: Determination (by simulation) of temporary and transient overvoltage stress on equipment and surge arrester energy ratings.

Power System Studies: Perform power system simulations (steady- state and EMT studies) for projects and tenders

Network studies: Confirmation of the correct interaction between the equipment, its control system and the rest of the network.

Losses: Calculation of overall project losses and reporting to the client.

Provide guidance and coordinate the engineering tasks to meet the project/tender requirement.

Technical responsibility in areas of expertise

Identify and evaluate EHS risks in the team area and implement practical measures.

Strong understanding of coding languages like Python and its application in power system tools

Develop and maintain automated workflows using Python to execute large scale, multi scenario batch simulation in PSCAD

Identify the opportunities for optimization of system studies tools & techniques and leverage advanced AI/ML based techniques for process improvement

Bridge the gap between engineering simulation software and AI/ML frameworks by developing reusable, scalable pipelines for model validation, testing, and EMT/RMS studies

Serve as the technical bridge between traditional HVDC system studies and data science, ensuring that all AI/ML-driven insights remain grounded in foundational studies principle.

Requirements:

Educated with an Engineering degree (or equivalent) including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering and preferably in HVDC System Engineering.

Knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS and MATLAB etc.

Insulation co-ordination and main equipment characteristics for HVDC

An expertise of the use of computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to the design of the aforementioned activities.

A general understanding of the characteristics of HVDC Valves and their control systems.

Presentation skills.
