We are looking for a Student Success Advisor who combines strong study abroad admissions knowledge with a sales-oriented mindset. This person will counsel students, understand their requirements, recommend the right path forward, and convert interested students into GyanDhan’s admissions process or with our consultant partners.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys counselling students but is equally comfortable with sales targets, follow-ups, objection handling, and revenue conversion.
Key Responsibilities1. Student Counselling & Profile Assessment
Speak with students planning to study abroad and understand their academic background, career goals, preferred destination, course, intake, budget, and funding requirements.Evaluate the student's profile at a basic level and guide them on realistic study abroad options.Understand basic admission eligibility across major destinations such as the UK, USA, Australia, Germany, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe.Guide students on common admission requirements including academics, English language tests, work experience, backlogs, application documentation, intakes, and timelines.Set realistic expectations with students regarding university options and the overall admissions process. Admissions Process Knowledge
The advisor should have a working understanding of the study abroad application journey, including:
Student profiling and eligibility assessmentUniversity and course shortlistingApplication documentationSOP/LOR and academic document requirementsApplication submissionOffer letters and conditional offersDeposits and tuition fee paymentsEnglish language requirementsEducation loan and financial documentation basicsVisa process overviewPre-departure and enrolment stages
The role does not require the advisor to personally process every application, but they should understand the process well enough to explain it confidently to students and guide them to the right next step.
Sales & Student ConversionConvert inbound and qualified student leads into active admissions customers.Explain the value of GyanDhan's admissions support and consultant network clearly and confidently.Encourage students to enrol with the recommended consultant partner for their admission journey.Pitch applicable paid admissions or service packages and convince students to make the required service payment/token wherever applicable.Understand student objections around pricing, free consultancy options, trust, university choices, and timelines, and handle them effectively.Create urgency and guide students towards clear next steps rather than allowing leads to remain indefinitely undecided.Regularly follow up with interested students through calls, WhatsApp, email, and CRM.Work towards defined targets for counselling, qualified students, payments, partner enrolments, applications, and conversions. Consultant Partner CoordinationMatch students with suitable GyanDhan consultant partners based on destination, course, student profile, service requirement, and partner expertise.Introduce students to the selected consultant and ensure a smooth handover.Track whether counselling has happened and whether the student is progressing towards shortlisting, documentation, application, and payment.Collect student feedback on the consultant experience and intervene wherever required.Coordinate with internal teams and consultant partners to resolve issues that may affect student conversion. Student Journey OwnershipTake ownership of the student relationship from the first counselling conversation until successful enrolment at the desired university.Ensure students understand their next steps at every stage.Identify students who are highly interested, undecided, unresponsive, or unlikely to proceed and manage follow-ups accordingly.Proactively identify drop-off risks and attempt to re-engage students.Escalate application, consultant, service, or student experience issues wherever necessary. CRM & Pipeline ManagementMaintain accurate and timely updates for every lead in the CRM.Record counselling notes, student preferences, eligibility, objections, follow-up dates, and outcomes.Maintain a healthy pipeline and prioritise leads based on intent and probability of conversion.Track performance across important metrics such as:
○ Lead-to-counselling conversion
○ Counselling-to-enrolment conversion
○ Paid service conversion
○ Partner onboarding
○ Application initiation
○ Student follow-up and responsiveness
What We Are Looking For: Must-Have Skills
1–3 years of experience in study abroad counselling, overseas education, education sales, admissions counselling, or student-facing sales.Basic understanding of international university admissions and eligibility requirements.Familiarity with major study destinations such as the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, or Europe.Strong verbal communication and counselling skills.Strong sales and persuasion ability.Comfortable discussing pricing and asking students to make payments for services.Ability to handle objections and follow up consistently without losing student trust.Target-oriented and comfortable working with conversion metrics.Strong ownership and follow-through.Comfortable working with CRM tools, Excel/Google Sheets, WhatsApp, email, and calling systems.Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate student records.

Can quickly understand a student's profile and identify whether their study abroad plans are realistic.Are comfortable recommending universities or destinations at a basic level.Can explain why professional admissions support adds value instead of simply telling students that the service is available.Can confidently ask a student to pay and enrol once the right solution has been established.Know how to follow up persistently without sounding overly aggressive.Enjoy working towards targets and seeing students move from enquiry to application.Can balance student-first counselling with commercial outcomes.Take ownership rather than simply passing the student to another team.
Preferred But Not Mandatory
Previous experience with a study abroad consultancy, EdTech, admissions platform, or education marketplace.Experience counselling students for multiple countries.Experience selling counselling, admission, visa, test preparation, or other education-related services.Exposure to platforms such as LeadSquared, Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar CRM tools.Experience working with university representatives, admission partners, or study abroad agents.
