Job Description Summary
GE Vernova is seeking a Solution Cost Manager to join our HVDC team. This role is responsible for managing the cost baselines for all the HVDC reference solutions to ensure a concise, accurate and competitive cost basis is available and can be applied consistently across regions and tenders/projects. The Solution Cost Manager sits at the intersection of solution strategy, sourcing excellence, design improvement and cost competitiveness.
Job Description
The successful candidate will own the cost framework and baseline of each reference solution that will serve as the templates for individual bids as well as the basis for analysis and decision making as each reference solution is developed. This manager will drive the use of these cost baselines, support bid and execution teams in the correct application while coordinating contributors from various fields (NPI, Value Proposition, Sourcing, etc). A special focus shall be given on improving competitiveness, controlling risk, and protecting profitability.
Essential Responsibilities
Own and develop reference solution cost baselines, templates and deployment packages, ensuring the baselines are clearly defined, accurate, user-friendly and well maintained.Drive the use of these cost baselines and ensure they are readily available and accessible to all users and stakeholdersDefine, maintain, and govern standard cost baselines for end-to-end reference solutionsWork with Global Sourcing and others to keep costs up-to-date, identify any gaps and obtain costings as neededOperate in close coordination with the OTR cost controllers to understand actual costs from projects and use this information to refine the reference solution cost baselinesWork with Proposal Managers to ensure that ITOC models are used correctly and efficiencyParticipate in the tender review process to support, review and ensure the consistency of the data presentedSupport bid and project teams during tender and execution phases by ensuring the correct cost baselines are used in line with intended standards and assumptionsCoordinate Solution Line and Regional stakeholders involved in sourcing, finance and cost control ensuring alignment between processes and regional business needsProvide cost input for analysis and decision making associated with the development of the existing reference solutions and the establishment of new solutions as neededIdentify, assess, and mitigate cost-related risks early in the lifecycle to improve execution readiness, reduce delivery uncertainty, and protect profitabilityContinuously evolve the reference solution cost baselines based on market needs, lessons learned, tendering and execution feedback, and business prioritiesContribute to improving win rate, execution consistency, and margin performance by strengthening the quality, competitiveness, and use of reference solutions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related fieldDemonstrated experience in cost analysis, bid management, proposal management or Finance in an engineering and/or project environmentProven experience developing, governing, or deploying standardized cost tools and references or reusable frameworks in a multi-project or multi-region environmentStrong understanding of project cost control processes and industry-standard methodologiesExperience with cost analysis tools and the ability to develop specific tools as needed to support the workDemonstrated ability to drive use of standardized tools and references and process improvement across cross-functional teamsStakeholder management and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, tendering, regional, commercial teamsProven ability to identify risks, resolve cross-functional issues, and drive alignment in complex business environmentsFluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
