The Search and AI Platform is Elsevier’s agentic data platform which powers products such as LeapSpace, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Clinical Key, Reaxys, Libra and our next-generation AI powered search systems.

The platform uses agentic services to interrogate our rich knowledge graphs, search and recommendation systems, and our unparalleled collection of research data to deliver insights to the scientific community so they can collaborate more effectively, work smarter, and deliver quality research more quickly.

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate Senior Software Engineer to work as part of the teams building and enhancing our platform to deliver intelligent, scalable solutions that create real value for our clients.

About the Role: -

The Libra Team is a core part of Elsevier’s Search and AI Platform. This team works on building this Evaluation Platform for Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated medical content item-by-item, provide ratings/feedback based on predefined metrics, track team progress, and export results for quality assurance and model improvement purposes. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with passionate team to design and deliver robust frontend capabilities solutions for expert evaluation platform for Libra services.

Responsibilities: -

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance frontend applications using React 18 and TypeScript.Build and enhance frontend capabilities for the Libra expert evaluation platform.Develop applications using React, TypeScript, Vite, NestJS/Node.js, and Playwright.Translate product requirements into technical solutions, development plans, and high-quality implementations.Design and implement SPA architecture, routing, API integrations, and reusable UI components.Write and maintain unit, component, and end-to-end tests to ensure application quality and reliability.Champion clean code, SOLID principles, engineering best practices, and CI/CD quality standards.Collaborate with Product Managers and engineering teams while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

Requirements: -

6+ years of professional experience in frontend software engineering, building scalable web applications.Strong hands-on expertise in React 18, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.Deep understanding of SPA architecture, React Router, data loaders/actions, and route-based data flow.Strong experience with component libraries, modular styling, and reusable UI components.Experience building reliable REST/API integrations using service-layer patterns and centralized API clients.Hands-on experience with Vitest, Testing Library, ESLint, strict TypeScript, and CI quality gates.Practical knowledge of Vite, Yarn, Docker, nginx, AWS/ECS, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.Experience working in Agile/Kanban environments, with strong collaboration, ownership, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
