Role OverviewWe are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, prototyping, and improvement of 3-Wheeler and 4-Wheeler commercial vehicles. The role will involve mechanical design, BIW/load body, vehicle integration, BOM management, field failure analysis, and value engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical components, assemblies, brackets, structures, and vehicle systems.Work on BIW, Load Body, Vehicle Integration, Prototyping, and related mechanical design activities.Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings.Analyze field failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve design-related issues.Prepare, maintain, and update BOMs and engineering documentation.Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, testing, and design validation.Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Service, and suppliers to resolve design and product issues.Identify opportunities for Value Engineering (VE), cost reduction, weight optimization, and design improvement.Ensure designs meet requirements related to functionality, manufacturability, durability, cost, and quality.Required SkillsB.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.2–3 years of relevant experience in automotive mechanical design/product development.Experience in one or more areas: BIW, Load Body, Vehicle Integration, Prototyping, Field Failure/RCA, BOM Management, or Value Engineering.Proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.Good understanding of 2D drawings, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing processes.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.PreferredExperience in 3W/4W commercial vehicles or EVs.Exposure to prototype development and vehicle-level integration.Experience working with automotive OEMs or product development teams.Knowledge of PLM/PDM/ERP systems.Key DeliverablesTimely completion of design and engineering deliverables.Accurate 3D models, drawings, and BOMs.Effective closure of prototype, integration, and field issues.Support for cost, weight, quality, and design optimization initiatives.
