We are looking for Engineering Manager to join the FACTS Solution Line team. The position will be based in Noida, India with remote working flexibility. You will be working on cutting edge technology and varied international high-profile projects. In this position, you will be reporting to FACTS Engineering Leader India and it can be considered a top priority position to lead a critical engineering discipline in FACTS business.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Responsibilities:
Lead and execute detailed power system studies for STATCOM and FACTS projects.Perform and review:Insulation coordination studiesHamonic analysis and harmonic filter designTemporary and transient overvoltage studiesSwitching transient studiesLoad flow studiesShort circuit studiesDynamic stability studiesLVRT & HVRT studiesDevelop and validate simulation models for:STATCOMSVCPrepare detailed technical reports, study documents, and customer presentations.Coordinate with control, protection, primary engineering, and commissioning teams.Interface with utilities, consultants, and customers for technical discussions and approval.
Software Expertise Required For STATCOM Projects
MATLAB / SimulinkPSCADPSSEPRSIMAdditional exposure to Dig SILENT Power Factory, RTDS, EMTDC, EMTP-RV, or hardware-in-loop testing will be an added advantage.
People Leadership Tasks
In this position, you will lead the global expert organization for System Design of grid integration of high power (> 100MVAr) reactive power compensators, namely STATCOM (static synchronous compensator) and SVC (static var compensator). Your main task is people and engineering leadership, and together with your team you will be accountable for successful engineering delivery according to highly demanding customer specifications. You get to see the full engineering workflow from Tender evaluations and bid preparation, to projects’ detail design, and finally commissioning of the compensator at the actual site.
Build, lead & mentor a high-performance engineering team.Develop engineering competency and technical expertise within the organization.Allocate resources and monitor engineering schedules for multiple projects.Drive engineering quality, productivity and on-time deliverables.Establish standard engineering practices, templates, and workflows.Conduct technical reviews and engineering risks assessments.Support employee development, training & succession plan.
Qualifications/Requirements
14 – 18 years of relevant experience in Power System Studies.Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS projects.Experience in utility scale grid integration and EHV substations preferred.People leadership skills.BTech/MTech/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering preferably in Power System.Experience from Substation/Grid system design solutions, e.g. FACTS, HVDC.Knowledge in development/application of engineering processes and continuous improvement.Strategic view to anticipate and implement coming needs.Fluent written and oral skills in English.Strong prioritizing and time management skills.
Desired Characteristics
Strong understanding of FACTS and Power Electronics applications.Deep knowledge in IEC/IEEE/CIGRE standards related to harmonics and insulation coordination.Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.Experience of handling global utility/customers’ requirements.Exposure to Indian Grid Code, CEA regulations, and international utility standards preferred.Desire to work in international environment.
