The R&D lab under the HS Company is responsible for bridging advanced material research to commercial product application.

We are seeking a skilled materials engineer who will evaluate and develop advanced material application solutions, validate performance in real-world product environments, and bridge the gap between material discovery and commercial product integration.

Responsibilities

Material Evaluation & CharacterizationEvaluate mechanical properties (tensile strength, elongation, hardness, fatigue, impact resistance) of high-strength polymers, composites, and ferrous / non-ferrous alloys.Conduct accelerated life testing and environmental stress screening to validate material durability.Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to simulate material behavior under load and optimize part design.Application DevelopmentDevelop and validate material specification sheets for LG components.Prototype parts using injection molding, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, or other fabrication methods.Support DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process FMEA) for material-related risks.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with material suppliers and internal research teams on material qualification and sourcing.Provide material application expertise to design, quality, and manufacturing teams throughout product development cycles.Translate material test results and design feedback into actionable engineering recommendations.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain Material Master Data and Bill of Materials documentation in PLM systems.Ensure all developed materials and processes meet regulatory requirements (KC, UL, RoHS, REACH) and internal LG standards.Continuous ImprovementMonitor emerging high-strength material technologies (advanced thermoplastics, nanocomposites, fiber-reinforced materials) and assess their commercial viability.Contribute to processing innovation proposals and patent filings related to material applications.

Technical Requirements

M.Tech (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field) ideally from reputed institutes (NITs / IITs).1+ years of relevant experience in materials evaluation, application engineering.Practical experience with high-performance engineering plastics (e.g., PEEK, ULTEM, CFRP, metal alloys).Familiarity with automotive-grade or consumer electronics material standards (e.g., IATF 16949, IEC 62368).Project lead or subject matter expert experience in new material introduction programs.Patent writing or IP management experience.Experience in CAE/FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, or LS-DYNA); hands-on experience with material testing per ASTM/ISO standards; working knowledge of PLM systems (Teamcenter).GD&T (ASME Y14.5), Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent preferred.Fluent in Business-level English; Korean language skills are a plus.
