About the roleAs a Software Engineer at Chargebee, you will be responsible for developing high-quality backend services that power our core platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable features that handle complex financial transactions. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end feature development while ensuring the highest standards of security and performance.

What you'll doDesign and implement scalable backend services using Core Java and Spring Boot frameworks.Develop and maintain high-performance REST APIs to support seamless integrations with global platforms.Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to established engineering best practices.Collaborate with stakeholders across product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.Optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues within a microservices architecture.Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering standards.Ensure the security and reliability of data processing for billing and payment systems.Integrate AI-driven tools to automate code quality checks and enhance development workflows.

What you'll bring1+ years of professional experience in software development and engineering.Proficiency in Core Java and building microservices using modern frameworks.Strong foundational knowledge in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design patterns.Practical experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems.Demonstrated ability to write automated unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.Expertise in using AI-powered coding assistants to improve development velocity and code accuracy.

Nice to haveExperience with billing, payments, or financial technology systems.Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.Familiarity with building or fine-tuning Large Language Model (LLM) integrations for internal productivity tools.Previous experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
