Job Description

Plan, organize and lead a design team for new product development with adherence to Product Development Process, Husky Standards and Stage Gate. Responsibilities include estimating effort and cost and ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality targets. Implementation of continuous improvement activities including metrics, root cause analysis and implementation of improvement.

Responsibilities

Leadership of engineering design team through Product Development Process. Specifically, supervising and supporting team members regarding:Marketing support, product definition, specification, scoping and VOCConcept development, evaluation and recommendationRisk mitigation through past service issue research, risk identification and formal DFMEASystem level design with high attention to detail and adherence to Husky standardsEngineering analysis using hand calculation, spreadsheet and CAE formatsDesign execution with high attention to detail in engineering qualityValidation plan developmentDesign document disciplinePreparation for Product Release ProcessTeam member development through: providing challenging goals, coaching, mentoring, providing technical leadership opportunity, performance management, individual development planning, interviewing and hiringTeam support in developing innovative environment; both formal (tools) and informalDevelopment of open communication amongst team, across disciplines, outside engineeringProject and resource plan developmentProactive management of project budgets, status, execution timeline and mitigation as requiredProactive communication of team status to managementContinuous development of team output to a high quality standardWeekly facilitation of team design reviews and team planning whiteboardsTechnical support for Sales and Service

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of Product Development Process, Stage Gate, Husky StandardsUnderstands Quality function deployment processesStrong knowledge of specific supporting disciplineStrong knowledge of Husky products and customer baseStrong project, time management skills and ability to delegate tasks and projectsStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop/mentor a teamStrong decision-making and judgmentExcellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation)Strong sense of integrityDemonstrates high degree of flexibility and embraces changing prioritiesPrevious hands on design experienceEducation: Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or 5 to 10 years of equivalent professional experience.Engineering Experience: 10+ years.Proven leadership experience.Previous project management experience an assetSolid design engineering skills.
