Role Description

Work within a team of Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development processApply scientific/engineering principals in the design of machinesExecution of conceptual and detail design - 3D modeling of parts and assembliesOptimize design based on manufacturing processes (DFM), assembly and testSizing and selection of components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearbox, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standardsPerform calculations and analysis (structural FEA, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stack-up, etc..)Detailed drawings and application of GD&TFormal report writing and presentations to team members and managementWork with team members in the validation of new designs (design and build of test stands, writing of test plans, analysis of test results, etc..)Contribute in design review meetings and brainstorming sessionsDesign risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEAContribute in a fast paced design environmentWork closely with multidisciplinary experts – Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Validation/Test

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Skills And Abilities

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong presentation skillsExcellent understanding of engineering principlesAttention to detailStrong problem solving skillsStrong sense of ownershipAbility to multitask (scheduling and prioritizing tasks)Creative ability to generate concept designs and select optimal concepts (eg./ selection matrix, TRIZ, etc..)Demonstrated learning abilities and strong research capabilitiesProficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio/Project – nice to have)Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a highly cohesive teamCommitment to working with integrity and honestyStrong interpersonal skillsKnowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software is an assetA strong desire to learn about mechanical design and possess a strong mechanical aptitudeWell-rounded – hands-on mechanical ability and passion for interests and hobbies outside of work
