A design engineer at an energy infrastructure company develops electrical substation layouts using substation design calculations, BIM authoring, and AutoCAD, with further work in Revit. The role covers AIS and GIS substations, power quality projects, tender engineering, project engineering, and utility standards.

Roles and responsibility:

1.Having detailed design experience of minimum two projects of each AIS & GIS substation from 66kV & Above2. Statcom/SVC/Mobile SS/Prefab SS Knowledge - Importance of power quality projects in the grid integration.3. Substation Interface Engineering with MEP, Civil & Secondary - Handles interface coordination and resolvesroutine issues.4. Vendor Co-ordination - Independently coordinates with vendors for clarifications.5. Customer & Consultant Co-ordination - Handles routine customer & Consultant technical coordination.6. Tender Engineering - Understand the requirements from the sales, handle tender engineering independently,prepare Layout & SLD, BOM/BOQ of all major equipment, accessories.7. Project Engineering - Capable to handle the primary engineering, follow the Quality & processes & identify theproject risks.8. Knowledge of Safety aspects in engineering and its applications.9. Standards - IEC, IEEE, EU & experience in utility base practice of middle east and Africa region.

Specific Knowledge & Skillsets:

Substation Design Calculation (SCF, SAG, Earthing, DSLP, Lighting, Conductor Sizing, Cable sizing (HV & MV) &Transformer sizing) - Performs design calculations as per standards and client requirements with minimum two ofeach AIS & GIS project.Engineering of OEL, Earthing, Cable routing, DSLP layout - Independently deliver the layout & section drawing tothe customer.Tool Experience in Design Calculation (Cymgrid, Cymcab, DIALux, ETAP, CDEGS) - Independently uses calculationsoftware and reviews the report.Revit (ACC) & AutoCAD Competency - Review of documents through Revit and AutoCAD tool.BIM authoring using Revit (or discipline-specific tools such as Tekla,Civil 3D)• Creation and maintenance of:✓ Parametric families✓ Templates✓ Schedules and quantities• Understanding of LOD / LOI concepts and staged informationdelivery• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and EIR requirements• Clear technical communication• Ability to accept and act on coordination feedbackDiscipline in following defined processes and workflowsUnderstanding of:✓ BIM Execution Plan (BEP)✓ Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP)✓ CDE workflows and permissions• Accurate naming, versioning, and status tagging of informationcontainers
