What You’ll Be Doing...
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead SAM Flexera Expert to play a crucial "player-coach" role within our Software Asset Management (SAM) function. You will architect the end-to-end publisher management strategy while actively working as a hands-on implementor for our most complex, tier-1 software publishers within the Flexera One platform. In this role, you will drive enterprise-wide continuous cost optimization programs, manually design and configure complex licensing frameworks, serve as the lead technical defender during major vendor audits, and mentor a team of SAM professionals.
Your Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Defining the end-to-end lifecycle strategy for software publishers within Flexera, while rolling up your sleeves to directly execute the onboarding, configuration, and compliance monitoring for critical tier-1 vendors.Acting as the primary authority and hands-on implementor for translating highly complex EULAs, MSAs, and amendments into accurate license records and product use rights (PUR) within the platform.Directing and executing continuous cost optimization initiatives, actively diving into the data to identify strategic opportunities regarding shelfware, hybrid cloud licensing, and enterprise-wide application rationalization.Leading the defense and data strategy during major software vendor audits, collaborating closely with IT Procurement, Legal, and Sourcing teams to mitigate financial risk.Executing advanced data normalization, beacon management, and hands-on troubleshooting of the Flexera architecture to ensure optimal platform health.Overseeing the strategic roadmap and technically supporting the implementation of Flexera integrations with enterprise systems like ServiceNow CMDB, cloud portals (AWS/Azure/GCP), and discovery tools.Mentoring and guiding SAM analysts by leading by example, fostering a culture of continuous ITAM process improvement and technical excellence.Developing and presenting executive-level reporting on software compliance risk, ELP status, and realized cost savings.Collaborating with Sourcing and Legal teams to maintain continuously updated compliance workpapers, defend against vendor audits, and proactively support contract renewals.

You are a strategic leader and hands-on technical expert with an authoritative understanding of software asset management and complex publisher licensing frameworks. You possess excellent problem-solving skills, a proven ability to execute complex platform configurations, and a passion for mentoring others. You thrive when balancing high-stakes compliance strategy with the technical implementation required to realize multi-million-dollar cost-saving opportunities.
You’ll Need To Have
9+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) or IT Asset Management (ITAM), with at least 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on implementation and architecture experience in Flexera.Proven leadership experience blending end-to-end publisher lifecycle strategy with direct, hands-on platform execution.Expert-level understanding of software licensing frameworks for major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, SAP, Red Hat, VMware/Broadcom).Extensive technical experience managing ecosystem integrations and databases, including ServiceNow CMDB, SQL queries, REST APIs, and discovery agent operations.Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex licensing data into actionable business strategies for leadership.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Flexera Certified Professional / Administrator (Flexera One / FNMS) and/or CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) or IAITAM certification.Scripting and automation skills (such as Python or PowerShell) to streamline API integrations and automate data management tasks.Understanding of how SAM intersects with Cybersecurity, specifically regarding the identification and management of End-of-Life (EOL) or End-of-Support (EOS) software to mitigate security risks.
