Power > Power Controls > Converter Control Framework

The Converter Control department plays a key role in maintaining Vestas' leadership in sustainable energy. Our team develops, maintains, and assures the quality of converter control functionalities for all Vestas turbine families, while ensuring full compliance with global grid code requirements.

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Converter Control Department, developing next-generation control platforms for utility-scale wind turbines.

You will play a key role in designing and implementing software that controls high-power converters, enabling reliable and efficient renewable energy generation. Working closely with control engineers, system architects, platform teams, and test engineers, you will help translate advanced control concepts into robust, production-ready embedded solutions.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex real-time challenges, helping guide technical decisions, and mentoring colleagues while remaining directly involved in software development.

Responsibilities

Design and develop embedded software for converter control systems

Contribute to software architecture and long-term platform evolution

Ensure software quality, maintainability, and scalability across multiple product generations

Review designs and code to ensure adherence to engineering standards

Develop and maintain real-time embedded applications in C/C++

Implement control-oriented software running on DSPs, microcontrollers, or industrial embedded platforms

Optimize software performance, determinism, memory usage, and execution time

Debug complex issues across software, hardware, and system interfaces

Support system integration, validation, and commissioning activities while developing automated tests and verification strategies

Contribute to SIL, HIL, and system-level validation activities while analyzing field issues and supporting root-cause investigations

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Embedded Software / Electronics / Similar specialization

10 + years of experience with embedded software development environments

Good understanding of software configuration management and version control

Proficiency with industry tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions

Knowledge of software integration and release processes

Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams

Skilled at diagnosing issues and developing practical solutions

Competencies

Ability to work on their own through complex technical problems

Experience working with remote, multi-location teams

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Possesses a global mindset with deep cultural understanding
