Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

The role is a career-level, seasoned professional position with strong ownership of design, implementation, and technical leadership. Engineers at this level work on complex software systems, drive architecture and design improvements, and may lead small teams for key feature development.

Acquire and demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge of Surfscan softwareAct as a technology evangelist for the Surfscan product divisionWork on complex problems requiring detailed analysis and evaluation of multiple factorsEnsure designs, code, and unit tests are:RobustScalableFuture-proof

Drive software design and architectural improvementsParticipate in requirements definition and design reviewsProvide technical impact assessment for changes to product requirementsContribute technical inputs to estimation and project planningBuild understanding of key use cases in Bare Wafer Inspection (IC & Wafer customers)Follow KT-defined software development processesLead small teams for feature development when requiredIdentify, review, and mitigate technical risks, in collaboration with the Technical ManagerContinuously improve software development processes by proposing solutionsStay up to date with new technologies and development methodologiesDrive architecture and technical design of components within the platform

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) or work experience of 0 years , Master's Level Degree or work experience of 2 years , Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 3 years
